The Police Rancher in GTA V is a law enforcement version of the Rancher XL used by the North Yankton State Patrol. It retains the same design as the regular variant but is covered in snow on the upper surfaces, bumpers, and windows. The vehicle features two antennas on the roof and a square-shaped light bar with rotating halogen emergency lights.
It lacks a defroster rear window and has an additional rear compartment handle. The Police Rancher is exclusively available in a white color with NYSP markings, including gold and blue stripes, "STATE PATROL" on the front fenders, and the NYSP emblem on the front doors. It is equipped with wheel chains for improved traction on snowy surfaces, although this is purely cosmetic.
Although the Police Rancher is not normally obtainable in-game, testing reveals that it offers a unique blend of performance characteristics. It combines the off-road capabilities of the regular Rancher XL with the agility and handling of the game's police vehicles.
The Police Rancher shares similarities with the Rancher XL, including an inline-4 engine, 5-speed gearbox, and an all-wheel drivetrain with a front-to-rear power distribution of 30-70. However, its engine sound differs, resembling that of SUVs like the Granger and the Baller.
This vehicle cannot be modified.
Prologue - The Police Rancher appears during the shootout between the NYSP police and the crew.
This vehicle only appears in the Prologue and cannot be obtained in free roam without mods.
Unlike most police vehicles, the lightbar on the roof can be detached by crashing the vehicle. The same applies to the Police Roadcruiser.
In 2004, the North Yankton State Patrol used Police Ranchers, in addition to Police Roadcruisers, as part of its fleet.
The Police Rancher has "Trooper of the year 1951" markings on the rearmost sections of the sides.
