When Garaga was a young snake, he made a deal with a ninja to be summoned into battle. During one fight, the ninja wanted to run away, but Garaga wanted to keep fighting. So, the ninja turned against him and used Lightning Release to hurt his right eye. This made Garaga very aggressive, and even other snakes didn't want to be around him. The White Snake Sage considered him a problem because of his behavior.
Garaga, a snake, initially attacked Konoha ninja (Boruto, Sarada, Shikadai, Inojin, and Chocho) when the White Snake Sage sent them to retrieve his Reverse Scale. However, their battle was interrupted by Aoda, another snake. Following a fierce encounter with Aoda, Garaga made a solemn oath to harm any human who came near him, and he managed to escape by petrifying Chocho and leaving Aoda in a wounded state.
The Konoha ninja and Aoda remained determined to obtain Garaga's Reverse Scale and eventually located him in a dark environment. In this dark setting, Inojin's drawings proved to be useful for distracting Garaga since they lacked the heat that other objects emitted.
During a mental connection with Boruto, Garaga shared his past experiences, particularly the betrayal he suffered at the hands of his previous summoner. This conversation ultimately led to an agreement between Boruto and Garaga: Garaga would enter a summoning contract with Boruto to see Mitsuki, and if Mitsuki were to betray Boruto, Garaga could devour him.
They returned to the White Snake Sage, and Boruto kept his promise by summoning Garaga. Later, when they faced Sekiei's Explosive Clay, Boruto summoned Garaga for assistance, although Garaga initially refused to help, finding amusement in Boruto's struggles.
Garaga agreed to join the fight only after Boruto accepted the condition of becoming his underling. However, when Mitsuki revealed his true intentions and departed with the enemy, Garaga found humor in Boruto's predicament.
In a dream, Garaga confronted Boruto, reminding him of their bet and challenging his resolve. Boruto persisted in his quest to find Mitsuki, and this determination impressed Garaga, prompting him to grant Boruto more time.
During a battle against a formidable Akuta, Boruto summoned Garaga for aid. Garaga, now acknowledging Boruto's strong determination, fought alongside him, leading to the defeat of the Akuta. Once their contract was fulfilled, Garaga bid farewell to Boruto in his subconscious, although he still couldn't resist calling him an annoying child.
Garaga is a very dangerous and angry snake as he doesn't like humans and gets mad quickly. His bad temper comes from being betrayed by his old summoner. Because of this, he thinks trust is a silly idea and believes people only act nice to use others. Garaga is also very proud of his abilities and doesn't like it when others look down on him.
But when Garaga saw Boruto's determination to save his friends, even when it looked like Mitsuki had betrayed him, he was impressed. It made him change his mind about trusting others a bit. So, he decided to help Boruto, but he still acted grumpy and thought Boruto was weak and got in the way sometimes.
Garaga is a huge red snake with black rings on his body and he looks a bit like a cobra with a hood. He has a big forehead and one working eye on the left because the right one is damaged. He also has a special scale under his jaw that's like a jewel. This scale is rare and only found on very aggressive snakes.
Garaga is a very strong snake as he can fight off many ninjas and even a big snake alone. Because he's so big and powerful, he can wrap around his targets and stop them from moving. He can also spit venom that turns people into stone when it touches them, which is connected to his special scale.
Garaga can hide by blending into his surroundings so no one can see him. Like other snakes, he can find others by sensing the heat they give off, even in the dark.
