When does the 4th Great Ninja War Start?

The episode begins with Kankuro and Omoi in the frame, as members of the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party. Omoi starts thinking what if they are attacked by their pursuers resulting in one of his classic overthinking sprees and getting lost in thoughts. Meanwhile, Akatsuki's Surprise Attack and Diversion Platoon pursues the remaining members of the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party. Muta Aburame proves to be a hindrance in the Surprise Attack and Diversion Platoon’s way as he successfully hampers them with his Insect Jamming Technique.

Muta finds himself separated from his teammates and uses one of his insects to carry the intel they had gathered on Akatsuki to the headquarters of the Allied Shinobi Force. In the meantime, Surprise Attack Division infiltrates enemy airspace. When Kankuro and Onoi lands with the rest of the part, their sensory ninja, Zaji, mentions that he is feeling some kind of hindrance causing disruption in his sensory abilities.

Zaji then finds injured Muta and rushes to help him and gets blindsided. As it turns out, It was a trap set up by Sasori, who was controlling Muta with his chakra threads. By his side, Deidara, who had stuffed Muta’s jacket with his signature explosive clay, detonates it resulting in a big explosion. Luckily, Kankuro manages to pull Zaji away from the explosion but was unable to save Muto, who died from the explosion.

They were just processing that they just lost a comrade, and they get attacked by two of their comrades, Ranka and Tomuka, who were getting controlled by Sasori. They try to deflect their attacks as they are having a hard time to even considering attacking their comrades.

In the meantime, Sai makes an appearance, coming to their aid. However, he is shocked to see Shin on the battlefield, attacking his comrades. Shin advises Sai to run away from the battlefield as they cannot be killed. Omoi is taken by surprise when he finds out that Shin is Sai’s brother. With this revelation, Omoi is enraged that Akatsuki would use their comrades to fight against them even making brothers fight in a deathmatch.

These were low-handed tactics and beneath him. He then attacks Deidara with his Cloud Style Reverse Beheading but that turns out to be a trick and Omoi successfully frees Ranka and Tomuka from Sasori’s control by severing his chakra threads, while Ittan raises the ground using Earth Release Technique.

Kankuro finds an opening, he attaches his chakra strings to Sasori and smashes him in-ground, crashing him into Deidara in the process. Sasori then proceeds to praise Kankuro’s skill, reminding him how much he has improved since their last battle. Kankuro looks back to their last meeting and then proceeds to reveal his Sasori Puppet to use against Sasori himself.

Sai makes an appearance on the battlefield to aid the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party. He is shocked to find out that his opponent is no other than his brother, Shin.

Reminiscing about his last meeting with Sasori and how much he has grown in the timespan, he reveals his Sasori Puppet to fight against Sasori himself.
