What makes Naruto so special is the number of clans the show has. Each clan specializes in something and these specializations are carried over to the next generation. Konoha itself has so many clans in it, with these clans spanning out throughout the ninja world even to the moon, it is truly surreal to think of how many of them there are.
People born in clans seem to have an affinity towards the Jutsu practiced by their clans. The Hyuuga have the Byakugan, a visual prowess. The Yamanake clan has an affinity towards mind control and reading. The Aburamay clan seems to be in close relations with insects, while the Inuzuka clan is famous for their love for dogs.
However, the clans don’t just carry over Jutsu. They also carry over properties as the Uzumaki clan has more chakra than most of the individuals in Naruto. The Haruno clan is famous for Chakra control, which helped Sakura surpass Tsunade in terms of strength and healing.
Not all characters in Naruto seem to have a clan. Characters like Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Rock Lee and Tenten seem to have no clan in their names. This makes their heritage unknown, but all the more awesome to see people not rely solely on their clan’s ability.
The different clans in Naruto span out not only through the five nations but also into outer space. The Otsutsuki clan is a clan with a bunch of aliens who wanted to destroy Earth in order to cultivate chakra fruit. With an ever-expanding universe, one can never tell how many clans the Naruto world has.
