The world of Naruto is rich with different lands and villages. In the Naruto World, most nations operate with a hidden shinobi village of their own, which provides military support for the nation. There are five big nations, namely the Land of Fire, Land of Wind, Land of Earth, Land of Water and the Land of Lightning. Although there are many more small nations, these are the Great Five Nations with huge military power, thanks to their hidden villages. The main focus is of course on Konohagakure, also known as the Village Hidden by the Leaves, the hidden village of the Land of Fire.
Representing the Land of Fire, the Hidden Leaf Village is famous for its Will of Fire and the importance the village places on its comrades. This village also has a darker side controlled by Danzo, involving experiments with children with no emotions, and executing an entire clan.
Land of Water has the Hidden Mist Village and is famous for its assassins. They have swordsmen who are incredibly strong – much stronger than your average shinobi. They also have bounty hunters for rogue shinobi.
Land of Earth has the Hidden Stone Village, whose kage is known to be extremely old. He can use particle Jutsu that can destroy things with ease.
Land of Lightning is represented by the Hidden Cloud Village, which is on top of a mountain covered by clouds. The eight tails’ Jinchuriki, Killer Bee, is famous throughout the five nations for being a Jinchuriki who made peace with the tailed beast.
Land of Wind has the Hidden Sand Village, famous for being a village in the desert. It was also famous for having a kage who was the Jinchuriki of Shukaku, the one tailed beast.
All these lands and villages are unique in their own accord. Interestingly, the physical attributes of the villages and landscapes are somewhat reflected in the village's name itself. So, in theory, every hidden village and every nation is different from any other. Every hidden village utilizes the natural landscape surrounding their village to their advantage to protect the village from any invaders or threats. This makes the Naruto series even more intriguing because the fans never know what to expect, what kind of people or dangers their favorite character may come across in their missions.
All of these villages constitute the rich world of Naruto and their cultural differences, showing how hard earned the peace between all these nations are.
