Sasori used Hiruko as his puppet to fight against Kankuro, who tried to save Gaara after Deidara captured him. Hiruko poisoned Kankuro, but Sakura was able to save him, Later, Granny Chiyo and Sakura fought against Hiruko, and it was Sakura who destroyed the Hiruko Puppet.
Hiruko was a puppet, which had a humankind of look as it had breaded hair and wore a mask. It had a big face-like mask on its back through which a metal tail used to come out. Its left hand had one metal-like weapon through which it fired posion and needles.
Hiruko served as both protective armor and a versatile weapon for Sasori, allowing him to engage in combat without being directly exposed. All weapons within Hiruko were coated with Sasori's lethal poison, inducing paralysis and eventual death in victims over a period of three days. Hiruko's extendable iron tail could be employed for offense by stabbing opponents or for defense by rotating around the body.
Hiruko had a sturdy back shell that provided added defense, a new feature since its last appearance twenty years prior. The puppet could rapidly launch senbon (needle projectiles) from its mouth, providing a ranged attack option. Hiruko's left arm was shaped like a torpedo and could launch senbon shrapnel in all directions, a new addition since Chiyo's earlier encounter with the puppet.
