Hoichi in Naruto

When Hoichi was young, he learned about Bunpuku's sealing techniques and the ability to control currents. Two years after Gaara became the Kazekage and had the Shukaku inside him, Hoichi met with Fugi. They talked about their plan to seal Shukaku away.

During the chūnin exams in the Demon Desert, Hoichi notices Team Matsuri heading towards the central tower. He gets caught in Fugi's sandstorm and hides under the sand. When Gaara arrives to help Team Matsuri, Hoichi emerges and prepares to attack Gaara. After Gaara leaves, Hoichi targets Team Matsuri by using their own shadows against them to lure Gaara back. Hoichi uses his seal to pierce Gaara with chains and tries to extract Shukaku's chakra. Fu tries to save Gaara but fails. Realizing Fu is also a jinchuriki, Hoichi also attempts to extract her tailed beast.

As the extraction continues, Fu slows it down with her Cocoon technique. Team Guy and Fu's teammates arrive to rescue the jinchuriki. Neji Hyuga blocks the chakra points in Gaara and Fu, stopping the extraction and causing the chakra chains to go out of control. The chains quickly bind Hoichi, and Gaara asks Neji to save him. Neji blocks Hoichi's chakra points, stopping the technique. Hoichi is then taken away for medical treatment.

Hoichi is cunning, determined, and ruthless. He is willing to use others' weaknesses against them and is driven by his goal to extract the tailed beasts' chakra. However, he also shows moments of desperation and a willingness to exploit any opportunity to achieve his objectives.

Hoichi wears a dark blue sash and carries a musical instrument, a biwa, tied with a white cloth. He also has red rosary beads on his wrists and wears a forehead protector from the Suna village on his outfit. He is a young man who is bald with brown eyes. He has a long scar across his face from his left ear. He wears a dark blue outfit like a monk's robe but without sleeves.

When Hoichi was a child, he learned about Bunpuku's abilities to control currents and studied his techniques. He specifically learned a sealing technique called the Dharma Power Sealing Technique: Sen no Rikyu, which allows him to forcefully extract multiple-tailed beasts at once.

Hoichi can also manipulate sand, making it hard for defense, or using it to hide in sandy environments. He is skilled at playing a musical instrument called a biwa, and he uses the tones of the biwa to perform his techniques. By playing specific tones, he can create barriers and control shadows.
