What is Chakra in Naruto?

Chakra is the native to all the living beings on the planet. It was used to create the chakra fruit. The Otsutsuki clan traveled a lot to absorb chakra from different places.

Creation and History of Chakra:

Chakra wasn't present on earth until Hagoromo and Hamura Otsutsuki were born. They were born with it due to their mother eating the chakra fruit from the God tree. Hagoromo spread his chakra to others with a practice called Nishu, whose intention was to create peace by using the chakra to connect people by understanding each other without even talking.

Sadly the people did not use chakra in the way Hagoromo had hoped. Instead of connecting with others they used it as a weapon and create what we all know as ninjutsu.

Chakra is essential and the most basic Jutsu. The most common is hand seals but it can also be controlled and manipulated too. Chakra isn’t visible to the human eye unless and until it is highly concentrated in large amounts. Since Hagoromo spread chakra as a life form for individuals, it means that if someone runs out of Chakra then they will die. Chakra consists of a mix of a person's spiritual and physical energy.

As chakra takes time and an enormous amount of training to build up, one must learn how to sufficiently control and conserve it. This is known as chakra control.

Each person's chakra is different and unique, which sensory ninjas are able chakra is passed on genetically and due to it being unique each clan is identified by its unique chakra. While all jutsus require chakra, taijutsu doesn't. Taijutsu doesn't require any moulding or manipulation of chakra.

Variations of Chakra:

Tailed beasts chakra:

This was the chakra made by Hagoromo Otsutsuki by extracting it from the Ten-tails. This chakra is differentiated by the number of tails the beasts have and it ranges from one to nine. A tailed beast's chakra is red.

Senjutsu chakra:

This is the type of chakra which involves the use of natural energy. The people who practice senjutsu chakra are known as Sages. They learn how to take in natural energy inside their body and mix it with their chakra. This chakra helps to boost the user's abilities and techniques.

Absorption chakra:

It is produced by the Demonic Statue of the outer path and is released from the mouth of the phantom dragons. Any chakra which touches them and sticks to them allows them to kill people in an instant. The sealing technique: phantom dragons nine consuming seals utilize nine of these dragons to extract the tailed beast’s chakra from a jinchuriki or seal them, even though it requires several days.

Six Paths Chakra:

It is Hagoromo's unique chakra and can be only used by combining the chakra of his son's Indra and Asura to form the Rinnegan or by becoming a Jinchuriki of the Ten-tails.

Like Hagoromo, Hamura Otsutsuki's chakra has special properties and is almost as same as the Six Paths Chakra. Only those with Hamura's chakra can touch the Tenseigan and are immune to it. One such person is Hinata Hyuga.

Gift of the Hermit group:

This is a special kind of chakra used by the monks of the fire temple. To master it, you require to train daily relentlessly. It is required to unseal the sealed iron wall that surrounds the temple.

Dark chakra:

It's the chakra formed from the negative emotions of the heart. It's created by the Zero-tails as it feeds on people's negative emotions and is also to power the Land of the Sky. It requires proper chakra control to use and if not done properly can cause backlash and the shinobi's body is heavily decorated.
