The Mallard in GTA V is a small, mid-wing aircraft with a design inspired by the Zivko Edge 540 or the Extra 300S. It has a seemingly small fuselage with a wide nose and a two-bladed propeller, two wings with aerobatic horizon reference devices, and a tail boom and empennage with horizontal stabilizers and tail landing wheel.
The interior is compact and mostly stripped-out with a small flight instrument panel. It is available in three different schemes and has hidden wheels within the landing undercarriage.
The Mallard has excellent acceleration and top speed due to its powerful engine. Its light body makes it very agile, which makes it ideal for performing aerobatic stunts. However, caution is advised when taxiing or landing on uneven terrain, as the wheel spats can easily get damaged. The aircraft is powered by a single piston engine, which sounds similar to the ones used in other aircraft in the game.
This vehicle cannot be modified.
The Mallard can be used for Stunt Plane Time trials and Flight School challenges in GTA V. The Time trials are only available in the Collectors and Special Edition of the game.
Can be purchased for $250,000 on the Elitás Travel site.
Can be spotted flying over the hills of Palomino Highlands and also over the western coast of San Andreas.
Can sometimes be spotted landing at the Sandy Shores Airfield.
Can be obtained in the "air flyer" side mission for Michael after he purchases the Ten Cent Theatre property. After the mission, the player must switch back to Michael after switching to another character, to keep the Mallard used in the mission.
Can be spawned via the cheat code button combination:
Xbox: B, Right, LB, LT, Left, RB, LB, LB, Left, Left, A, Y
PlayStation: Circle, Right, L1, L2, Left, R1, L1, L1, Left, Left, X, Triangle
PC: "Barnstorm"
The Mallard shares its name with two real-life aircraft, which are the Grumman Mallard and the Advanced Aeromarine Mallard, both of which are amphibious planes.
A Mallard is a species of duck that inhabits parts of North America and Europe. Despite the plane being maneuverable and fast, the Mallard's namesake is known for being a clumsy and gregarious animal, and thus is a popular target for hunters.
