Akio had a limited appearance in the series and was first seen in episode 209 of Naruto with the title, The Enemy: Ninja Dropouts, in the Gantetsu Escort Mission Arc. Todoroki thought his younger brother Akio had passed away. But Akio, who was in charge of a small group of orphans in the Land of Forests, was actually alive. The Shinobazu, a band of rogue ninjas from numerous hidden villages, kidnapped him. He was rescued by the joint efforts of Naruto Uzumaki, Todoroki, and Gantetsu from the Shinobazu's stronghold. Although he was delighted to be reunited with his brother, he decides to accompany Gantetsu rather than go back with his brother in order to help him in protecting the orphans. Todoroki bids farewell to his younger brother and extends his best wishes to Akio and presents him with the gift he intended to give him when they were kids.
This is the only instance Akio ever appeared in the anime or the manga of the series. Based on this minimal appearance, Akio is believed to be alive and well as he has not made an appearance since, until any additional piece of information comes to light suggesting otherwise.
Due to his lack of appearance in the series and any related information, almost nothing is known about Akio’s personality. Based on his limited role, it can be deduced that Akio is quite a responsible young man. He is also passionate about others. When he had the opportunity to reunite with his brother, he chose to go their separate ways in order to help the orphans he lived with for so long.
Akio has black eyes and short brown hair. He wraps a thick red headband over his head, and some of his bangs hang over it. He was seen wearing a blue hooded shirt with its sleeves torn off around the elbows. In addition to that, he fashions a green vest above his shirt, paired with some pants and standard sandals.
Akio might use a spear in battle, even though he hasn't had formal fighting training or training as a shinobi. He can also use a sword and is quite good in kenjutsu; with little effort, he can cleanly cut a giant tree branch in half. Additionally, he possesses excellent spatial awareness and can navigate the Forest of Bewilderment with ease.
