Baku used to be the personal summon for Danzō Shimura. He is also known to be one of the strongest summoning creatures, something that Tobi spoke of. He only appeared once during Danzō’s battle against Sasuke Uchiha.
During his confrontation with Sasuke at the Samurai Bridge, Danzō summoned the Baku as he sought to destabilize Sasuke’s Susanoo with its immense suction ability. He also used the suction force to boost the potency of his own Wind Release: Vacuum Serial Waves technique, which carved a hole in Sasuke’s Susanoo. This allowed Danzō to attack the Uchiha head on. Taking advantage of the suction, Sasuke blasted a fireball into Baku's mouth, increasing the size and force of the fire and forced it to retreat.
Baku is a massive elephantine chimera the size of Sasuke Uchiha’s Susanoo. With the exception of its trunk, legs, and the marks surrounding its eyes, it is mostly dark-orange in color. It possesses striped feet that resemble those of a tiger, as well as massive tusks, what appears to be a beard, and long, sharp claws. It is clad in plated armor and has bandages wrapped over its skull.
The Baku is known, in legend, to be capable of devouring dreams and nightmares which Tobi confirmed upon seeing the beast. When it opens its mouth and inhales, it can generate a powerful suction force that inhales anything in its path while exhaling through its trunk, unaffected by the debris it inhales.
Danzō uses the power of his suction force by combining it with his own Wind Release skills. It was powerful enough to immobilize Sasuke’s Susanoo while also assisting Danzō’s Wind Release in breaking past Sasuke’s Susanoo’s defenses. This suction has a similar effect on Fire Release procedures, which can be used to counteract it.
