Bando, Kiji, and Sada are from small islands, so they must gather all the natural resources to sell them to the great nation at a high price. He always carries his abacus to calculate the money and often uses it as a skateboard or hoverboard.

Sakura Haruno, Ino Yamanaka, Choji Akimichi, and Naruto Uzumaki were on a mission to gather herbs from Nanakusa Island when Bando and his subordinates, Kiji and Sada, came across them. They offered to let the shinobi from Konohagakure pay for some of what they had acquired.

This was because they were on a similar mission and had already collected the majority of the supplies on the island, but their offer was rejected. Bando and his team set out, claiming they could gather everything before the Konoha shinobi arrived at each spot.

Naruto rushes forward in an attempt to recover the elixir mud when the two groups of shinobi finally come together on the island, but he is unsuccessful. Then, while navigating the rough cave environment with their equipment, Bando and his squad make an attempt to retrieve the mud.

To counter the sulfurous fumes that were periodically exploding everywhere, Bando employs his Wind Release: Great Breakthrough method. But as they arrive at the mud pond, they are attacked by a huge lizard and are eventually saved by Naruto. Sada and Kiji were surprised when Bando, who was grateful to him, gave them some of the island's produce without charging the shinobi.

Bando is an intelligent, calm, and mature shinobi. He always looks to sell the things he gathers at a high price to foreign shinobi because his financial condition is not good as he came from a small island. Bando showed honor by giving up his supplies to the Konoha shinobi after Naruto had saved him and his group, claiming that this was their contribution to the Allied Shinobi Forces. Still, it's possible that this was a trick to secure more rewards in the future.
