Very little is known about his childhood and Benten’s past as his heritage is still shrouded in mystery. Due to his limited appearances in the series, close to nothing is known about his lineage or background other than the fact that he is a member of the Magaki Group.
Benten first appeared in the Six-Tails Unleashed Arc. Along with other members of the Magaki Group, he was after Hotaru to get his hand on the forbidden jutsu of the Tsuchigumo clan. In pursuit of the kinjutsu of the Tsuchigumo clan, Akaboshi, Benten, Nango, and Chushin head for Mount Katsuragi.
They succeeded in destroying the barrier around the mountain and ascending. When they ran across Tonbee because they were unable to find the jutsu anywhere else, they easily defeated him. They learn that Hotaru possesses the technique and started looking for her.
Later, Benten and the others received instructions from a man who was later revealed to be their leader, Shiranami. After receiving their new orders, they soon ran into Utakata. At first, Utakata easily defeated them but in the end, they managed to trap him in their barrier ninjutsu, known as the Hurricane Thunderclap. Later, they ambushed Hotaru and managed to acquire the scroll in hopes that is the kinjutsu.
As soon as Nango handed the scroll over to Akaboshi, the scroll exploded. It gave Hotaru an opening she needed to escape but the group managed to catch up and apprehend her. Fortunately, Utakata makes it in time and rescues Hotaru. After being bested by Utakata once again, Benten and the group are confronted by Shiranami who revealed that Utakata is a rouge ninja from Kirigakure, also known as the Village Hidden in the Mist.
Utakata is being hunted down by the Hidden Mist Village and has a bounty of 50 million ryo on his head. Later, when Naruto Uzumaki went to locate Shiranami, whom he thought was an ally at the time, Benten and his companions attacked him and used Infinite Embrace, a formidable barrier ninjutsu, to drain his chakra. Benten came close to revealing their strategy when Chushin defeated Naruto, but Akaboshi silenced him. Naruto released his Nine-Tail chakra and escaped from the Infinite Embrace, furious at having been tricked.
The Magaki, who were astounded by Naruto's prowess, utilized their Multiple Infinite Embraces to encircle and subdue him. But much to their surprise, Naruto was still able to fight back. Utakata made an appearance and launched Acid Permeation, which is offensive ninjutsu before they could take further action.
While terrifying them with his Six-Tail chakra, he demanded angrily that the Magaki tell him where they had taken Hotaru. Akaboshi concluded that they were in danger and out of their depth, and ordered others to retreat and regroup with their leader at the Tsuchigumo Village.
When Utakata and Naruto made their way to the Tsuchigumo village at night, they discovered that the Magaki had taken over the village by hypnotizing everyone. Benten made fun of them for being such easy prey. The rest of Team Yamato showed up as they searched for Hotaru just before things were about to get worse.
Then, things got heated as Benten and the others engaged in a battle with the Konoha shinobi squad. Benten is eventually knocked unconscious by a punch from Sakura Haruno after his group's attempt to destroy Team Yamato with their Impermanence of Worldly Things fails.
Benten has not appeared since this occurrence; thus, his absence makes it impossible to say whether he is dead or alive. He is currently assumed to be alive and well unless any information surfaces indicating otherwise.
Due to his lack of appearance in the series and any related information, almost nothing is known about Benten’s personality. From his status and limited appearance, it can be deduced that Benten is fixated on using the kinjutsu of the Tsuchigumo clan to acquire enormous power and wealth.
His comrade, Chushin also claims that when he is angry, he can be frightening. Despite his wicked image, he appears to be hesitant to harm women as he tells Chushin to be gentle with Hotaru.
Benten appears to be particularly feminine. Although he is a man, Benten has a gentle and rather feminine appearance. At times, his feminine face with his masculine voice threw people off.
Benten has medium black hair with brown eyes, red highlights, and a bell chimes hair ornament attached from behind. In addition to his feminine features, he wears pink lipstick. In his limited appearance, Benten is dressed in brown pants and shinobi sandals with a jacket with an open collar that is teal blue and light violet.
Although he did not seem like it and was bested by Utakata and Naruto time after time, he is in fact a formidable shinobi. He possessed Lightning Release chakra and had mastered multiple powerful jutsus. In his limited appearance, he showcased his mastery in the following jutsus:
Barrier Shattering Technique
Chakra Transfer Technique
Combination Transformation
Hurricane Thunderclap
Impermanence of Worldly Things
Infinite Embrace
Multiple Infinite Embraces
Shadow Rope Technique

Like other Magaki Group members, Benten specialized in cooperative techniques like Multiple Infinite Embraces. The Impermanence of Worldly Things, which creates a shard that shatters into several shards and impales the adversary, is the team's strongest move.
