Chiyo first appeared in Naruto Shippuden episode: 309, “The A-Rank Mission: Food Fight!” Chiyo with her father, Daimyo of the Land of This, and Shu attended the food-eating competition as spectators. She was amazed by the contestants' eating capability, including Choji Akimich and Naruto Uzumaki, who participated in the food-eating competition for their mission to kidnap Shu. He was taken hostage by the Land of This (Daimyo).

As round 2 was in progress, Shu headed out for training and soon Chiyo saw Shu training with Tatewaki. She scolded him for being rough with Shu. Later, Chiyo came back and watched the final contests of the food-eating competition. Meanwhile, Naruto transformed into Shu and as per their plan, Team Asuma was able to kidnap Shu.

The next day, Chiyo woke Naruto, who was staying in the castle as Shu disguised. After that, she was amazed by how Shu was eating and sleeping in between the lessons but later in training with Tatewaki, Chiyo saw Shu dodging Tatewaki easily. She was surprised and when she tapped the naginata on Naruto's shoulder, he transformed back to his original form and Chiyo asked him to tell where Shu was. Naruto sneaked away by using a smoke bomb.

Chiyo found Naruto once again when he was trying to escape the castle but before she or Tatewaki could do anything, Deidara and Sasori attacked the village. When Sasori’s puppet tried to attack Chiyo, Naruto saved her by destroying the puppet with Rasengan. Tatewaki told Naruto to escort Chiyo to a safe place and promised Chiyo that he would save her father, the Daimyo of the Land of This. He failed and died by the poison that Sasori used when they fought inside the castle. Later, Team Asuma and Naruto escorted Chiyo and Shu to the Land of That, where Shu's father Daimyo welcomed her after which she lived with Shu.

Chiyo is a kind and caring young girl. She is also hard working and gets excited to see tasty food. She also respects her elders.

Chiyo wears a pink Kimono and light pink haori that is sleeveless. She has brown hair that is tied with a red ribbon on the top of the head and has brown eyes. She wears a Kimono style blue belt that is strapped around the dress.

Chiyo is an intelligent and skilled naginata user. She showed this when she used it against Naruto. She showed her intelligence when Naruto tried to divert all the guards to the front gate, but she went to the back gate because she thought Naruto was trying to fool them.
