Chocho Akimichi’s Background

Chocho Akimichi, the daughter of Karui and Choji Akimichi, grew up in a close-knit community where her parents maintained strong bonds with their childhood friends. As a result, Chocho had the opportunity to develop close relationships with the children of her parent's friends. From a young age, she frequently had sleepovers with Inojin Yamanaka and Shikadai Nara, forming a tight-knit trio. They even had matching pajamas, emphasizing their deep friendship.

Choji, Ino, and Shikamaru continued a tradition started by their late sensei Asuma Sarutobi. They would take the children to Yakiniku Q, a popular barbecue restaurant, to celebrate their accomplishments and spend quality time together as a family. These gatherings further solidified the bond between Chocho, Inojin, and Shikadai, creating cherished memories of their childhood.

In one instance, in the anime, Chocho fell ill with a severe fever during her younger years. Her parents, Karui and Choji, displayed their deep love and dedication by tirelessly searching for a special medicine to help her recover, which caused Choji to lose weight, resulting in a significant physical transformation.

When Chocho saw her father's altered appearance, she initially didn't recognize him, leading to doubts about her parentage. On the momentous day of the Seventh Hokage's inauguration, Chocho attended the ceremony alongside her parents. It was during this event that she unexpectedly encountered Sarada Uchiha.

Academy Entrance Arc

In the anime, Chocho was amazed by Boruto Uzumaki's reckless behavior compared to his father. She asked Sarada if she knew him, and they later watched a fight between Boruto and Iwabee Yuino. During a class on summoning techniques, an argument erupted between Boruto and Sarada, which escalated into a larger argument between the boys and girls. Chocho bought almost all the yakisoba buns during lunch, sparking another fight between Sarada and Boruto.

Shino intervened and suggested a race challenge to settle the dispute. During the race, Boruto summoned a snake-like creature in desperation, causing chaos. The creature attacked the students, and Chocho was launched off the roof, but Boruto managed to save her with the help of other students.

The girls ultimately won the contest, and peace was made between the boys and girls. Later, a transfer student named Mitsuki joined the class. Shino organized a welcoming party, but it went awry when his insects caused havoc. Chocho decided to stay behind and guard the potato chips while her classmates dealt with the situation. The repairman went berserk and started destroying the Academy, but Chocho's classmates took action to stop him.

Sumire realized she was being stalked, and Chocho and her friends discovered that it was Magire Kakuremino, a shy student. Chocho mistakenly thought he was interested in her, but he admitted his feelings for Sumire. Chocho encouraged him to be more open about his feelings, but when Magire asked Sumire out, she turned him down. Creepy messages were left for Sumire, and Chocho and her friends decided to watch over her.

They were separated from Sumire and later discovered that Magire was possessed. Chocho confronted him, and he was freed from the possession but fainted due to the chakra drain. They rushed him to the hospital. The class was assigned to follow different workplaces to learn about non-shinobi life.

Chocho convinced Sarada to visit a nail salon and a pastry factory. She also got angry at Boruto for delivering her limited-edition potato chips late. Chocho later joined Shikadai in investigating a series of attacks and encountered a masked culprit. The culprit escaped, but they managed to save the possessed post chief.

In a new challenge, Chocho teamed up with Inojin and Shikadai, forming a trio similar to their parents' Ino-Shika-Chō formation. They acknowledged their compatible techniques and focused on working well together rather than being friends. During the challenge, Chocho knocked out an opponent, taking advantage of their social anxiety. Sumire's rumored transfer turned out to be false, much to the relief of the class.

Chocho met Sarada while helping her retrieve a lost parcel in the train, eventually finding it in a river. She then skipped training with Inojin and Shikadai to eat anmitsu at a dango shop with Anko, ignoring Inojin's protests and insults about her weight.

Sarada Uchiha Arc

Chocho was only concerned about the upcoming graduation exam because she hoped it would help her lose weight. She met up with her father, Choji, who embarrassed her with his choice of flavored chips. Frustrated with her father's overeating, Chocho complained about how it affected her own eating habits and believed she was adopted because she felt different from her parents.

She invited Sarada on a road trip to find her "real parents," unaware that Sarada had her own concerns about her parentage. Mitsuki dismissed Chocho's drama as typical of someone her age.

Chocho followed Sarada when she began tailing Naruto, thinking they were embarking on a journey to discover her "real parents." When Sarada asked Boruto to deliver lunch to Naruto, Chocho tagged along, hoping to meet her "real father." They were ambushed by Shin, but Naruto arrived in time to save them.

Impressed by Naruto's power, Chocho entertained the idea that he might be her real father, confusing Naruto. For their safety, Naruto allowed Chocho and Sarada to come along to meet Sasuke. Sarada left to meet Sasuke, and Chocho stayed behind with Naruto. They eventually caught up with Sarada and found her with Sasuke.

Chocho offered Sasuke her bag of chips as a peace offering. They joined the search for Shin, and Chocho admired Sasuke's abilities when he activated his Rinnegan. In the new dimension, they discovered Sakura battling Shin. Chocho complained about Sasuke being Sarada's father and not hers but soon found herself overlooking the battle against the Shin clones.

After defeating the Shin clones, Chocho approached Sarada, amazed by her friend's strength and noticing the resemblance of Sarada's eyes to her father's. On their way back to the village, Chocho expressed frustration about not finding her real father but discovering Sarada's instead. However, as they approached the village gates, Chocho mistook Choji for a familiar man who might be her real father.

She was surprised to learn it was actually her father, Choji, who had returned from a mission with Ino Yamanaka. Intrigued by her father's weight loss, Chocho demanded that he train her starting the next day.

Naruto Shinden: Parent and Child Day

During the new Konohagakure holiday, Parent and Child Day, tensions arose in Chocho's family. Karui became frustrated with Choji's laziness and his habit of devouring all the sweets she had specifically bought for them to enjoy together. This led Karui to kick Choji out of the house, hoping he would reflect on his actions.

Chocho, observing the situation, offered her perspective, reminding her father that there must be qualities that Karui values in him, as she had stayed with him for so long. Chocho's words sparked a glimmer of hope in Choji, making him fear losing Karui and motivating him to take action.

Believing that his reputation as a competitive eating champion might impress Karui, Choji decided to enter a food competition. Chocho enthusiastically joined him in the endeavor. Unbeknownst to them, the competition organizers had ulterior motives and were intentionally sabotaging their chances of success.

Fortunately, Boruto noticed the foul play and decided to level the playing field. With his assistance, the odds became fairer for Choji and Chocho. However, the situation took a surprising turn when one of the promoters employed a technique that caused the dumplings to grow to enormous sizes.

Choji and Chocho found themselves struggling to contain the oversized dumplings, and Karui joined the fray in an attempt to help her family. Despite their combined efforts, the dumplings proved to be formidable opponents. The realization dawned upon them that defeating the dumplings required more than individual strength; it necessitated working together as a family.

In a moment of understanding, Choji enlarged himself and devoured the giant dumplings, demonstrating his willingness to share and his remorse for indulging in the sweets before. He sincerely apologized for his actions, recognizing the importance of family and the value of sharing meals together.

Graduation Exams Arc

In the anime, Inojin, and his friends found themselves tempted by Shino's subtle offer to acquire the test answers for the written portion of the Genin Exams. Succumbing to the allure, they managed to pass the test with their newfound knowledge. The following day, the students faced a challenging practical exam, pitted not only against their Academy teachers but also the formidable Hokage himself, Kakashi Hatake.

In the practical exam, Inojin and the Ino–Shika–Chō trio found themselves in a fierce battle alongside their fellow students, confronting the skilled Anko Mitarashi. Despite their valiant efforts, they were ultimately defeated and captured, their dreams of becoming genin hanging in the balance.

However, the night brought a glimmer of hope as their classmates mounted a daring rescue mission, successfully liberating the captured students by defeating Anko. With renewed determination, they devised a strategy to overcome Kakashi's formidable skills.

In a clever display of teamwork and deception, all the students transformed into copies of Boruto, confusing Kakashi and creating an opportunity for Inojin and his friends to gain the upper hand. Although they couldn't secure the coveted bell within the exam's time limit, Kakashi recognized their exceptional teamwork and unwavering loyalty.

In a surprising turn of events, Kakashi chose to pass all the students, acknowledging their success in achieving the true goal of the exam: unity and cooperation. As a result, the Ino–Shika–Chō trio, along with their fellow classmates, officially became genin. They were subsequently assigned to Team 10, under the leadership of Moegi Kazamatsuri.

Byakuya Gang Arc

In the anime, as the Byakuya Gang continued to wreak havoc in Konoha through their series of thefts, Team 10, along with other genin teams, received a mission to aid in apprehending the thieves. However, due to the dangerous nature of the gang's activities, the genin teams were instructed not to engage them without the assistance of higher-ranked shinobi.

During their assignment, Team 10 found themselves stationed at a crucial location during a protest where accusations of corruption were being made against the Kaminarimon Company. While on duty, Shikadai abruptly left his post, prompting Chocho and Inojin to follow him. To their surprise, Boruto joined them and revealed his belief that the Ninjutsu Research Center was a potential target of the Byakuya Gang.

Upon reaching the institute, the genin discovered that it had indeed been robbed. However, their determination to track down the thieves was met with assistance from Katasuke Tōno, who provided them with a means to track the gang's movements.

As they caught up with the Byakuya Gang, Chocho and Inojin found themselves facing off against a significant number of members, while Shikadai and Boruto pursued Gekkō and Ryōgi, two key members of the gang. Through their combined efforts and teamwork, Chocho and Inojin successfully defeated the majority of the thieves.

In the midst of the battle, Shikamaru Nara arrived on the scene and swiftly dealt with the final remaining member of the gang. Recognizing the urgent nature of the situation, Shikamaru pardoned Chocho and Inojin for engaging in combat, understanding the gravity of the circumstances they faced.

Versus Momoshiki Arc

While accompanying her father on a shopping trip, Chocho grew frustrated to discover that all the food on the shelves had been snatched up by Naruto's shadow clones. Despite the setback, she later participated in the Chūnin Exams alongside her teammates Inojin and Shikadai.

The first round of the exams proved to be a deceptive true or false quiz, with both answers being incorrect. As a result, every team was dropped into an ink pit. Fortunately, Shikadai utilized his shadow manipulation to save himself and his teammates from falling, successfully passing the first round.

In the second round, the genin were tasked with capturing the enemy team's flag. Chocho took it upon herself to retrieve one of the flags while Shikadai and Inojin guarded their own. With her determination and skill, she managed to secure a flag, securing a victory for her team.

However, in the third round, Chocho suffered defeat at the hands of Shinki, a formidable opponent. Despite her setback, she remained supportive of her friends and watched eagerly as the finals unfolded.

The finals of the Chūnin Exams became a thrilling three-way battle between Sarada, Boruto, and Shinki. Chocho and her teammates cheered enthusiastically for Boruto when he managed to defeat Shinki and emerge as the victor. Their joy was short-lived, though, as they soon discovered that Boruto had cheated using an advanced ninja tool called the Kote, leading to his disqualification from the exams.

As chaos ensued and Momoshiki and Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki appeared, wreaking havoc in the arena, Chocho utilized her expansion techniques to aid in the evacuation of civilians, using her abilities to ensure their safety.

Chocho Arc

In the anime, as Choji began imparting more of their clan's advanced techniques to Chocho, including the maxed-out calorie control skill, she found herself increasingly engrossed in a popular TV drama featuring the lead actors Tomaru and Ashina. Driven by her desire to find love, Chocho became determined to maintain her Butterfly Mode, believing it would help her achieve a slimmer appearance, despite the fact that her limited control over this state actually diminished her strength.

When a death threat was issued to the two actors of her favorite show, Team 10, alongside Team 7, was assigned to protect them. Chocho's joy knew no bounds when she discovered that her team would be responsible for guarding Tomaru. Eager to catch his attention, she adopted a considerate yet seemingly indifferent demeanor, hoping to make a lasting impression.

During a stage performance, the venue came under attack by a masked Ame-nin. Both Konoha teams sprung into action to defend the cast. While initially successful in restraining the assailant, Chocho's focus wavered as she hesitated to unleash her finishing move, the Partial Multi-Size Technique.

Her reluctance stemmed from her desire to conceal her naturally plump form from Tomaru, which caused her performance to suffer and allowed the assailant to escape. Following the incident, one of the actors was injured, prompting Tomaru to suggest that Chocho step in and take the actress's place for an important scene.

Overwhelmed with joy, Chocho saw this as her golden opportunity to not only fulfill her dreams of acting but also win Tomaru's affection. As Chocho's affection for Tomaru grew, he invited her to try on a prop dress in order to rehearse a scene together. However, their moment was interrupted by Mitsuki, who inadvertently spoiled a potential kiss scene.

Enraged by the interruption, Chocho directed her anger toward Mitsuki, blaming him for ruining her "moment of love." The intensity of her emotions caused her to revert back to her normal, plumper form, unintentionally damaging the dress in the process.

When Tomaru reappeared, he failed to recognize Chocho and revealed his true nature as a vain and shallow individual, only interested in the beauty of Chocho's Butterfly Mode. To make matters worse, he openly mocked Chocho for her plumpness. Despite the pain and disappointment she felt, Chocho made the difficult decision not to reveal her true identity and instead focused on completing their mission.

In a dramatic turn of events, a masked attacker successfully captured Tomaru while Chocho went to fetch water for Ashina. The attacker left a ransom demanding a hefty sum of 20 million ryō, with the condition that Ashina must personally deliver it. Despite her friends' pleas for her to focus on her inner qualities rather than her appearance, Chocho stubbornly persisted in using her Butterfly Mode, despite its detrimental effects on her strength.

However, it was Mitsuki who finally managed to break through to Chocho by relating their conversation to her love of potato chips. He emphasized that true value lies not in external appearances but in inner qualities and character. Inspired by his words, Chocho had a change of heart and realized the importance of embracing her true self.

During the ransom exchange, it was revealed that Ashina, the seemingly innocent actress, was the mastermind behind the attacks. Motivated by her desire to regain her fame, she resorted to desperate measures. In a last-ditch attempt to bury the truth and maintain her image, Ashina attempted to detonate the area.

However, Konohamaru, disguised as the Ame-nin, managed to stop her from using the explosive tags. Unfortunately, the explosion triggered a landslide, putting Tomaru's life in peril.

In a selfless act of heroism, Chocho discarded her Butterfly Mode and risked her own safety to save Tomaru. Witnessing her bravery, Tomaru came to appreciate Chocho for who she truly was, regardless of her physical appearance.

He was astounded by her courage and offered her a regular role in the show. However, Chocho politely declined, recognizing that living as her authentic self was more important to her than fame.

Mitsuki's Disappearance Arc

In the anime, when Mitsuki appeared to betray Konohagakure, the village went on lockdown. However, Boruto and Sarada decided to sneak out to find Mitsuki. Team 10, including Chocho, was assigned to bring them back. They intercepted Boruto and Sarada the next day but failed to convince them to return peacefully.

Using a distraction and Boruto's shadow clones, Boruto and Sarada managed to split up Team Moegi. However, Shikadai saw through their tactics and easily subdued them. As they prepared to take them back, Shikadai noticed a snake with a message from Mitsuki. Suspicious of the situation, Shikadai believed there was more to Mitsuki's actions and convinced his teammates to help Boruto and Sarada.

They ended up in a foggy canyon and stumbled upon a grand palace, assuming it to be the Ryūchi Cave. Inside, they were greeted by a beautiful woman who claimed the White Snake Sage was expecting them. She invited them to a feast, but Boruto realized she was deceiving them when she mentioned Mitsuki by name, which he had not disclosed.

The woman revealed herself as a snake creature, and the palace and food were illusions to test the guests. To see the sage, they had to pass a series of tests, or the snake servants would attack them. Only Boruto wanted to speak with the sage, so Chocho and the others were separated and rendered unconscious. Boruto managed to pass the tests and reunite with his friends.

Finally, they met the White Snake Sage, who appeared as a frail reptilian woman. Although surprised that someone sought her help for something other than senjutsu, she agreed to analyze Mitsuki's snake if they obtained the Reverse Scale of the giant snake Garaga. The group accepted and ventured into the dangerous part of the cave.

Along the way, they encountered stone snake statues and were attacked by Garaga. Aoda, Sasuke's summoning snake, intervened and agreed to help them after hearing their request. They devised a plan to subdue Garaga, but Chocho was petrified by Garaga's spit.

While Chocho's friends continued their mission, Boruto convinced Garaga to form a summoning contract with him, promising that if he failed to bring back Mitsuki, Garaga could eat him. Garaga restored Chocho to normal. They presented the Reverse Scale, still attached to Garaga, to the White Snake Sage, who revealed Mitsuki's hidden thoughts.

Mitsuki had pretended to kill a guard to save their life. Although they were unsure why Mitsuki joined the attackers, they learned he had gone to the Land of Earth. As they approached the Land of Earth's border, Shikadai instructed Inojin and Chocho to return to the village and report their findings.

However, they stumbled upon paralyzed jōnin on the field and decided to investigate. Realizing their friends' needed help, Inojin and Chocho turned back. They arrived in time to support Boruto and Sarada in their battle against Kokuyō. Despite their well-coordinated team formations, they were unable to defeat the enemy and had to retreat. Inojin and Chocho later regrouped with their friends and learned of Mitsuki's betrayal.

After Boruto regained consciousness, the group debated whether to return to Konohagakure or continue their search for the truth about the new enemies. They ultimately decided to venture to Iwagakure and seek the help of Ōnoki. Inojin remained outside the village with the Akuta to avoid attracting attention, while the others entered and were soon spotted by Akatsuchi. He agreed to assist them, suspecting a connection to Kurotsuchi's sudden disappearance.

When they confronted Ōnoki and revealed their intention to find Mitsuki, he turned dark and turned them away. Suddenly, they found themselves surrounded by Akuta controlled by Kū, the leader of the conspiracy in Iwagakure, and Ōnoki's son, who was working with the retired Tsuchikage.

As Ōnoki explained his plans and his desire to protect people, he realized that with his secret exposed, he had to expedite his plans before the other Great Shinobi Countries found out. While Ōnoki instructed his son to take the prisoners away gently, Boruto and the others chose to resist, leading to a fierce battle. As the fight escalated, a large column fell toward Ōnoki, but Boruto managed to save him before retreating with him.

Shikadai was captured by the Akuta, while Chocho and the rest scattered to escape. They regrouped at the cave with Inojin and Sarada, waiting anxiously for Boruto's return. Deciding they had waited long enough, the group set out to find their friends but stumbled upon an injured Akatsuchi.

They heard an explosion and realized it might be their friends in trouble. Inojin was entrusted with taking Akatsuchi back to the cave while Sarada and Chocho went to investigate. They discovered Boruto battling Kakō, a formidable opponent with incredible physical strength and Dust Release.

Chocho and Sarada joined the fight, desperately trying to avoid Kakō's Dust Release attacks. Sarada noticed a time limit in Kakō's attacks and used it to her advantage, ultimately pushing Kakō beyond his limits and causing him to die from overexertion. Ōnoki, who had been observing, was shocked by the recklessness of the artificial soldier and how he went against his orders not to harm the genin.

Boruto insisted that the Fabrications had free will, despite Ōnoki's beliefs. Inojin arrived and subdued Boruto, who was under Kirara's genjutsu. Kirara appeared with the Akuta and surrounded the Konoha-nin. The genin were taken back to the village with Akatsuchi. Upon their arrival, they learned that Kū had taken over all of Iwagakure to prevent their plans from being exposed.

The second-in-command revealed his desire to transplant human hearts into the fabrications as a means of sustenance. However, Ōnoki refused, as it went against the purpose of his goal to save lives. Considering Ōnoki too sentimental, Kū usurped the Third Tsuchikage's position. Before Kū could proceed with his plan, Shikadai appeared and created a diversion to help his friends escape.

They were soon confronted by Kokuyō. Chocho and her team decided to face him while Boruto and Sarada continued their mission. Kokuyō's superior physical abilities quickly adapted to the Ino-Shika-Chō's tactics, forcing them to retreat. Following Shikadai's plan, they led Kokuyō into a trap.

Although the plan nearly succeeded, Kokuyō proved too strong and moved in to finish Inojin. However, Inojin was saved by his tiny Akuta friend, Akkun, who sacrificed himself. Chocho landed the final blow to defeat Kokuyō, but not before Akkun was struck down.

Ultimately, the Fabrications were defeated, thanks in part to the sacrifice of the Third Tsuchikage. While Chocho wanted to stay for the funeral, Naruto sent her and her friends back to Konohagakure. Chocho was apprehensive about facing Moegi.

Time Slip Arc

In the anime, Chocho and Choji decided it was time to part ways with their old clothing that no longer fit them. They decided to sell their items at the flea market, hoping to find new owners who would appreciate them. However, much to their disappointment, there was no interest from the buyers, unaware that their clothes were oversized and not in high demand.

Boruto and Sarada happened to pass by the flea market, searching for the legendary Icha Icha books by Jiraiya in order to understand his influence on Naruto. Choji, concerned about the mature content of the books, simply told them that they were romance novels, hoping to dissuade them. However, this piqued Chocho's curiosity, and she eagerly joined her friends in the quest to find these mysterious books.

Before they could proceed, Choji intervened, expressing his belief that they were too young to read such adult material. Despite their disappointment, Chocho and her friends respected Choji's decision and moved on from their pursuit.

In another instance, Chocho participated in a field test of new surveillance equipment designed to track their locations. During the test, they encountered Urashiki Ōtsutsuki in the vicinity. Chocho, along with other Konoha-nin, engaged in pursuit. However, it turned out to be a diversion created by Urashiki, who used genjutsu to infiltrate the village undetected.

Later, after the defeat of Urashiki, Sumire's transfer from her genin team to the Scientific Ninja Weapons Team was finalized. Chocho and her friends gathered to bid farewell to their former class representative, celebrating her new journey. They also had the opportunity to meet Tsubaki Kurogane, Sumire's replacement on Team 15, a samurai student from the Land of Iron.

Following a mission where Inojin struggled with his confidence to use his Mind Body Switch Technique, Chocho noticed his subdued demeanor and offered her assistance in his training. Inojin initially failed to perform the technique on Chocho, but with her guidance and support, he finally succeeded in using it on his parents.

Grateful for Chocho's help, Inojin treated her to a meal, but not before pulling a playful prank on her with the technique, inspired by their friends' encouragement.

Shikamaru Shinden: A Cloud Dancing in Forlorn Falling Petals

Chocho, along with Inojin and Shikadai, gathered to watch a live broadcast of Naruto's speech at the Continental Summit. Chocho shared with her friends the information her father, Choji, had passed on to her. According to Choji, Shikamaru accompanied Naruto to the Summit, and their presence was crucial in preventing a potential war.

As they listened to Naruto's speech, Chocho, and her friends felt a sense of relief knowing that their village's efforts had averted a disastrous conflict. A few days later, Chocho and her team received a new mission. They were tasked with escorting the daimyō of the Land of Flowers from Konoha back to his country.

Kara Actuation Arc

In the anime, Chocho and her team were assigned to join forces with Team Shinki to search for Urashiki's remaining puppet in the Land of Wind. During their journey, Chocho insisted that they take a break to grab a bite to eat. However, their casual meal took a horrifying turn when they discovered that the restaurant was filled with lifeless bodies, leaving them shocked and wondering if the culprit was Deepa, a dangerous adversary. They reported their findings to Sunagakure and met up with Team Shinki.

Although Shikadai held the highest rank among the group as a chūnin, they decided to let Shinki lead the way due to his familiarity with the area. As they uncovered the puppet, they were suddenly confronted by Deepa, who demanded that they hand over the puppet. Refusing to comply, they found themselves under attack as Deepa bombarded them with a barrage of carbon cubes.

Despite Shinki's defensive efforts, Deepa's assault proved overwhelming. Shikadai devised a strategy to keep Deepa occupied while Shinki delivered a decisive blow. However, Deepa's incredibly durable body rendered Shinki's attack ineffective, leading to their defeat. In a final act of defiance, Shinki destroyed the puppet rather than allowing it to fall into Deepa's hands, sparing their lives.

Upon their return to the village, Chocho, Inojin, and Shikadai were convinced by Boruto to assist him in training to overcome Deepa's resilient body. Shikadai believed that the key lay in focusing the power of Boruto's Rasengan on a specific weak point. Despite their persistent efforts, they struggled to achieve success. Ultimately, Chocho decided to call it a day, feeling the pangs of hunger.

Later on, following Boruto and his team's victorious battle against Deepa, Chocho and her friends stumbled upon Denki as he set up an experiment to enhance radio communications. They eagerly offered their assistance, working alongside Denki to improve the technology. Although their initial attempts lacked stability, Denki remained determined to refine the system, and Chocho joined in the cheers of encouragement and support.

Kawaki Arc

In the anime, Chocho, and Sarada were enjoying some taiyaki together when they encountered Kawaki, a mysterious boy connected to Kara who was under the care of the Seventh Hokage. Although Chocho found Kawaki handsome, she couldn't help but notice his sour attitude.

In an attempt to lighten the mood, Naruto offered to treat everyone to their favorite snacks, only to regret it as Chocho ordered a massive amount. As time passed, Kawaki began to warm up to Boruto and their friends, and Chocho found herself developing a crush on him. She watched from a distance as Naruto began teaching Kawaki ninjutsu, swooning over his quick mastery of chakra manipulation.

However, their peaceful days were interrupted when Jigen infiltrated the village, using Kawaki's Kāma as a portal. The village was put on high alert. In the anime, Team 10 received news that the village archive had been attacked and data stolen. Chocho, along with her teammates, discussed the situation and expressed her belief that the culprit had not yet left the village.

Convinced of their theory, she persuaded her teammates to join her in investigating. They stumbled upon the hideout of the culprit and encountered Kakashi, who was conducting his own investigation. Impressed by the genin's work, Kakashi decided to collaborate with them. When they discovered that the culprit, Koji Kashin, was escaping into the sewer, Kakashi went alone while instructing the genin to report to the officials.

Realizing that the sewers were connected to the Thunder Rail, Shikadai and the others rushed to catch the train. Thanks to Chocho's quick thinking, they narrowly made it in time. However, they soon realized that Koji was only a shadow clone. Nevertheless, their report allowed Kakashi to see through Koji's deception and foil his plans, forcing him to retreat.

Later, during a training session, the Ino-Shika-Chō trio was approached by Amado Sanzu, the chief scientist of Kara. Suspicious of his intentions, the genin attempted to restrain him, but Amado effortlessly repelled their attacks. He incapacitated Shikadai with a drug and strapped a bomb to him, set to explode in 48 hours.

Inojin and Chocho were assigned to watch over Shikadai while waiting for further instructions. Amado requested a meeting with Shikamaru via the Mind Body Transmission Technique and expressed his desire to defect to Konoha. He offered valuable information about Kara, including their resources, the Ten-Tails, and even the Ōtsutsuki clan.

Naruto decided to hear him out and ordered Amado to be brought in for questioning. In the meantime, Inojin and Chocho were tasked with guarding Shikadai. Following the defeat of Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, Boruto was put on indefinite active duty suspension to monitor his Kāma. Chocho and her friends gathered to discuss their concerns about Boruto's future, knowing that his path would be challenging.

Chunin Re-Examination Arc

In the anime, Naruto decided to organize another Chūnin Exam following Isshiki's attack in order to boost morale and promote more chūnin. Chocho passed the first written exam with Inojin's help, who cleverly shared his answers through his art. Although she wasn't initially invested in becoming a chūnin since she could already participate in higher rank missions as a member of Shikadai's team, Shikadai reminded her of the higher pay that comes with the chūnin rank, which she could use to indulge in more food.

During the second exam, Chocho successfully completed the task of rescuing an injured ally from the Forest of Death within the time limit. She was among the 10 genin who passed the exam and had to face one of the other 9 in a one-on-one battle for the final exam. The following day, Chocho spent most of her time enjoying food and chatting with her teammates at Yakiniku Q.

However, she soon realized how important becoming a chūnin secretly was to her and Inojin. Determined to train earnestly, Chocho received encouragement from Sarada. On the day of the finals, when Inojin faced off against Hōki Taketori, one of Sai's genin, Chocho suggested asking him for intel, but Inojin declined. She watched the match from the stands and, despite Inojin's defeat, was relieved to see his good spirits afterward.

During the second match between Wasabi Izuno and Iwabee Yuino, Chocho was surprised to see Shinki and his teammates, who had already become chūnin. In the third match, Chocho was shocked to learn that her opponent would be Sarada.

Initially hesitant about fighting her best friend, Chocho was reminded by Inojin of their promise to become chūnin and stand as equals to Shikadai. With renewed determination, Chocho was determined to give it her all. During the match, when Sarada showed concern after landing a powerful attack, Chocho felt insulted, believing Sarada wasn't fully committed.

She called her out on it, and Sarada apologized for her lack of commitment and fought seriously. Chocho unleashed her Butterfly Mode against Sarada's Chidori, but Sarada emerged victorious. Despite the loss, both of them thanked each other for the match. Leaving with her teammates, Chocho couldn't help but cry for failing to keep her promise, but Inojin and Shikadai provided comfort and support.

In the end, Chocho cheered for her promoted friends during the exams and celebrated their efforts at Yakiniku Q. Chocho and Shikadai were later assigned to a C-Rank escort mission. Much to Chocho's delight, Kawaki joined as Inojin's stand-in for the mission. However, they were attacked by assassins seeking medicine carried by Mozuku.

Kurobane managed to take the medicine and escape, while Jujumaru stayed behind to eliminate the group. Chocho and Shikadai managed to overcome his trap barrier, but Chocho sustained injuries while protecting Mozuku. After defeating and restraining Jujumaru, Mozuku explained his true circumstances.

Shikadai wanted to return to Konoha to get Chocho medical treatment, but Kawaki ignored his concerns and proceeded with Mozuku. Struggling to walk even with Shikadai's support, Chocho was joined by Boruto and Sarada, who had been following suspicious shinobi on their own mission.

She and Shikadai briefed them on their mission's developments, and Sarada stayed with Chocho while the others went to join Kawaki. At the end of the mission, Sarada visited Chocho in the hospital. Later, after apprehending Jingo Kumano based on outdated information, Chocho and Inojin helped him develop a new ramen recipe for his restaurant and rescued him when he was kidnapped due to a mix-up involving data thieves who were the target of Shikadai's mission.

Omnipotence Arc

Later, upon learning of Ada's arrival and being intrigued to meet her, Team 10 decided to check on her. They acted as surveillance while Team 7 interacted with Ada. However, Ada's ability affected Chocho, Inojin, and Mitsuki, causing them to wish to get closer to her. Moegi arrived and was angry that they ignored her orders to stay away, deciding to punish them with training.

When they discovered that Kawaki had gone rogue, Chocho and her team joined the search for him. During their search, a strange light flashed, causing everyone to believe that Boruto and Kawaki had switched histories. In this altered reality, Kawaki claimed that Boruto had killed the Seventh Hokage, leading Team 10 to become furious and chase after Boruto.

They managed to corner him, but Sasuke suddenly appeared and took Boruto away, leaving Team 10 confused and questioning what was happening.

Chocho Akimichi’s Personality

Chocho shares her father's love for food and never turns down an invitation when it comes to eating. She prioritizes food over training, even skipping sessions with her Ino-Shika-Chō teammates to indulge in meals with her sensei, Anko Mitarashi. Unlike her father, who would get upset when his weight was mentioned, Chocho is confident and unfazed by comments about her size.

She embraces her body and doesn't let it bother her, displaying a self-assured demeanor that she may have inherited from her mother. However, as time passes, Chocho starts to become conscious of her appearance and makes attempts to lose weight. But whenever she sees her father's enthusiastic eating habits, her resolve wavers and she finds it difficult to stick to her plans.

This, along with her mother's acceptance of weight, leads Chocho to humorously believe that she might be adopted. She develops a habit of impulsively considering impressive adults as possibly her real parents.

Ironically, even when she approaches her father after he uses his Calorie Control technique to become slimmer, she treats him in the same manner. Despite these quirks, Chocho values individuality and believes in doing things at her own pace, walking her own path.

Chocho is a romantic at heart, enjoying love stories and harboring hopes of finding love herself. Despite her eccentricities, she is a caring and kind friend who holds great concern and admiration for her best friend Sarada. Chocho is always ready to assist others when they are in trouble, providing help in ways she deems beneficial.

Although she may sometimes come across as self-centered and believes that many situations revolve around her, she has a genuine and warm-hearted nature. Like many of her peers, she looks up to the Seventh Hokage and holds him in high regard.

Chocho has a distinctive appearance that reflects her Akimichi heritage. She has dark skin and amber-colored eyes, characteristic of her clan members. Her hair, inherited from her father, is brown and styled in two spiky ponytails held together with a pink hairband. The rest of her hair cascades down her back, with bangs partially covering her left eye. Initially, she wore a sleeveless red shirt and white pants.

As she progressed, her outfit underwent an upgrade. She started wearing a sleeveless white kimono with a net t-shirt underneath. A yellow sash, tied with a dark-yellow ribbon, accentuates her waist.

She also sports black arm warmers and long shinobi boots. In adherence to Akimichi tradition, Chocho has pierced ears adorned with gray stud earrings. Notably, she does not have the facial markings commonly seen among her clan members.

In the Boruto: Naruto Generations manga, Chocho adds a small necklace and a single red bead bangle to her ensemble, along with another bangle on her right wrist. During her time in the Academy, Chocho wore a sleeveless pink kimono with a net t-shirt underneath. A red sash with butterfly decorations was tied around her waist, and she accessorized with black arm warmers and regular shinobi sandals.

Chocho Akimichi’s Abilities

Chocho possesses lightning release abilities and can perform the Lightning Release: Thunderclap Fist technique. In addition to this, she is skilled in Cooperation Ninjutsu and Fūinjutsu, utilizing them to restrain opponents and enhance the effectiveness of her techniques alongside her teammates.

As a member of the Akimichi clan, Chocho can convert her calories into chakra, enabling her to employ various body-expanding techniques. Even before graduating from the Academy, she had already mastered the Partial Multi-Size Technique. In the anime, she developed a technique where she uses her enlarged fists to strike the ground and launch debris at her opponents, serving as a ranged assault.

By the time of her Chūnin Exams, Chocho had further honed her clan's techniques, including the Multi-Size Technique and Human Bullet Tank. While in her enlarged form, her physical power may decrease, but she can sustain her Butterfly Mode for extended durations without relying on the clan's Three-Coloured Pills.

Initially, she kept her transformation incomplete due to subconsciously conserving calories, but after discovering that the technique is fueled by determination, she learned to fully harness its power.

Chocho's expertise in combat using enlarged body parts is notable, as she can keep up with Sarada even when the latter utilizes her Sharingan. Her proficiency in these techniques adds a unique dynamic to her fighting style.
