The details of Daruma's past are rather mysterious. Very little is known about his upbringing or his skills. In the anime, he only made a few brief appearances. He is just a part of the Boruto anime and does not appear or receive any mentions in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga, making him a non-canon character in the series.
He made his anime debut in the Chunin Re-Examination Arc of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in episode 222, "The Night Before the Final Round." The Chunin Exams were still going on when Wasabi entered the last round in the anime, but Daruma and the rest of his family still celebrated her promotion.
Daruma paid a visit to his daughter before her match at the chunin exam finals alongside Wasabi's mother and grandmother, Amagi Izuno, to compliment and express their confidence in Wasabi's ability. In the middle of the battle, Wasabi confessed to Iwabee Yuino her lack of self-confidence, the pressure she felt from not living up to her family's expectations, and the fact that she does not aim to become the Hokage of Konoha as her parents had intended for her. When Wasabi used the jutsu of their clan to save Iwabee, Daruma was proud of his daughter.
Daruma's appearance was quite limited, hence not much is known about him or his character. Based on his brief appearance in the series, Daruma is regarded as a kind and responsible person. His love for his family, especially his daughter, is quite strong. Even though Wasabi frequently undervalues her own ability, he always has faith in his daughter. Having said that, he can unintentionally put Wasabi under a lot of pressure because he occasionally seems clueless about his daughter's goals and emotions.
Daruma has tan skin and is a tall, muscular man. He has a shaved head but it is stated that he has black hair. He also fashions a goatee that has been neatly groomed, and golden eyes with cat-like pupils. He is often dressed in gray shorts with below-knee length, a green vest with high colors and pockets, a black sleeveless top, and red wristbands, paired with standard sandals.
It is difficult to tell from Daruma's little appearance whether or not he possesses any battle capabilities. There is no mention of whether he ever joined the Ninja Academy or ever led a shinobi lifestyle. Until further information becomes available, it is currently assumed that he has no combat abilities.
