Deepa in Boruto

Not much is known about Deepa’s past as he is an anime-only character and his early years are still shrouded in mystery.

Deepa made his debut in Boruto episode 157, titled “Kara’s Footprints.”

Kara Actuation Arc

During a meeting convened by Jigen, Deepa was present alongside the other Inners. They were informed of the destruction of one of their facilities in Amegakure, also known as the Village Hidden in the Rain, which had been carried out by an Outer.

In the Land of Valleys, Deepa perched atop a stone pillar, indulging in fruit as he surveyed the surroundings. Seemingly unaffected by the world around him, he suddenly descended from his vantage point.

When news broke that a sample of Hashirama Senju's cells had been stolen from Victor's company, Deepa was enlisted to recover it. He discovered that the stolen item had been sold in the Land of Silence. Despite Victor's insistence on maintaining a covert approach, Deepa paid little heed to his instructions.

Upon reaching the Curtain Village, Deepa nonchalantly entered a bar where the lifeless bodies of its former occupants lay strewn about. Undeterred by the grim scene, he leisurely enjoyed a meal before casually settling his bill and departing the establishment.

During his investigation at Fushu Castle, Deepa discovered that Sakuya had recently been killed, allegedly by Konoha (Hidden Leaf Village) ninjas. Seeking information, Deepa ruthlessly eliminated several looters to extract any valuable details. His relentless pursuit led him to track down the members of Team 7 from Konohagakure. However, upon realizing that they did not possess the coveted Hashirama Cell, Deepa demanded to know its whereabouts.

In a bold decision, Omoi and his team of Kumogakure (Hidden Cloud Village) shinobi chose to confront Deepa while the Konoha-nin proceeded to retrieve the Hashirama Cell from the true culprits. Despite the Hidden Cloud ninja’s unwavering determination and coordinated attacks, Deepa effortlessly countered each assault, swiftly incapacitating his adversaries. With his overwhelming power, Deepa ultimately achieved a decisive victory over Omoi, subduing him.

In an effort to extract information regarding the location of the Hashirama Cell, Deepa interrogated Omoi, who adamantly refused to speak. However, Kakui and Marui, Omoi's teammates, unexpectedly regained consciousness. Determined to ensure Omoi's survival, they divulged that the target was en route to the Land of Haze.

Seizing the opportunity, Deepa promptly executed Kakui and Marui, staying true to his promise to spare Omoi's life. With the newfound knowledge in hand, Deepa set his sights on the Land of Haze, resolute in his pursuit of the Hashirama Cell.

Deepa swiftly closed in on the remaining two Haze Quadruplets and the Konoha shinobi squad, launching a surprise attack that incapacitated one of the quadruplets. Displaying his unyielding and invulnerable body, Deepa exuded an air of confidence.

However, his presence did not go unnoticed as Victor, recognizing the urgency and the need for a quieter approach, intervened. Victor opted to engage the two jonin while leaving Deepa to handle the genin, much to Deepa's dissatisfaction.

The genin attempted to coordinate their efforts against Deepa, but his impenetrable technique proved impervious to their attacks, quickly overpowering them. Asaka, the last surviving member of the quadruplets, seized the opportunity and offered to surrender the coveted Hashirama Cell to Deepa.

Eagerly accepting the proposition, Deepa's anticipation quickly turned to surprise as Asaka employed a kinjutsu in a futile attempt to strike him. Deepa effortlessly evaded the attack. Returning his attention to a fallen Boruto Uzumaki, Deepa found himself taken aback by Mitsuki's Sage Mode.

Although Mitsuki's attacks were unable to harm Deepa, they successfully slowed him down, buying enough time for Mitsuki and his teammates to retreat. Reluctantly accepting that his mission to retrieve the Hashirama Cell had been accomplished, Deepa chose not to pursue them further.

Following a heated argument with Victor over their respective positions within Kara, Deepa was assigned another crucial task. His mission led him to the Land of Wind, where he first dined at a restaurant before ruthlessly slaughtering everyone present. Unfazed by the bloodshed, Deepa left the scene, paying no mind to the presence of Team 10 who had spotted him.

Later, Deepa came across Team 10 and Team Shinki, who had unearthed a damaged puppet previously belonging to Urashiki Otsutsuki. Recognizing it as his objective, Deepa demanded possession of the puppet. However, when the teams refused to comply, he initiated an attack utilizing his formidable carbon cubes.

Deepa was intrigued by the resilience of Shinki's Iron Sand, which offered unexpected resistance against his onslaught, prompting him to escalate the battle. Team 10 and Team Shinki devised a strategy to subdue Deepa, but their final assault proved to be futile. Overwhelming them with his superior power, Deepa emerged victorious.

During the intense clash, he noticed that his hand began to smolder, indicating some adverse effect from his own abilities. Despite securing the puppet, Shinki, in a final act of defiance, destroyed it before succumbing to unconsciousness. Although the young shinobi's actions had thwarted Deepa's mission, he remained eerily composed as he chose to leave them be and departed without further confrontation.

Returning to Victor's company, Deepa made no effort to conceal his presence, forcefully entering through the front entrance and swiftly incapacitating the guard who attempted to impede him. Victor, once again irritated by Deepa's lack of restraint, confronted him. Deepa reported the failure of his mission and, showing little concern, declared his intention to take a nap while Victor dealt with an inspection from the Land of Valleys' daimyo.

Their exchange revealed the growing tension between them, with Deepa asserting that the experiment was solely Victor's responsibility, while his own interest lay solely in savoring the results. Eventually, Victor achieved success in his experiment to recreate the God Tree. The experiment triggered significant tremors in the vicinity, capturing Deepa's attention. Annoyed that Victor had proceeded with the final test without involving him, Deepa embarked on an investigation.

To his vague recollection, he encountered Boruto and Sarada Uchiha at the scene. As Deepa reveled in the imminent completion of the experiment, Boruto expressed his outrage at Deepa's insatiable thirst for power derived from the Chakra Fruit. Deepa swiftly corrected Boruto, clarifying that his desire was not to consume the fruit but rather to relish its flavor, considering it the epitome of taste in the world. In response to Boruto and Sarada's determination to defeat him, Deepa laughed dismissively, fully confident in his abilities.

Despite the genin's considerable growth in skill and the unexpected return of Mitsuki, Deepa's mastery over his carbon powers remained unyielding. He effortlessly pushed them onto the defensive, launching relentless attacks and brushing off their attempts to counter him.

His laughter echoed through the battlefield as he taunted their persistent refusal to accept defeat. However, his amusement quickly transformed into annoyance when he realized that none of them displayed any signs of despair.

In a surprising turn of events, Boruto closed in on Deepa, unleashing his newly developed Compression Rasengan. Deepa initially scoffed at the attack, but his confidence was shattered as Boruto's technique managed to breach his seemingly impenetrable defense. Recognizing the imminent threat, Deepa activated the ultimate level of his carbon armor, encasing himself in an impenetrable shell to repel Boruto's assault. Gloating at his opponent's failed attempt, Deepa's jubilation quickly turned to horror as he witnessed the demise of the God Tree.

Enraged by the sight before him, Deepa seethed with fury at being robbed of the opportunity to taste the fruit. In his moment of distraction, Boruto and his team seized the opening and unleashed their combined Super Compression Rasengan. The overwhelming force shattered Deepa's armor, sending him hurtling through the air.

As Deepa lay in a state of shock and defeat, a sense of lamentation washed over him, realizing that he had missed out on what could have been the most extraordinary taste he would ever experience. His final moments were marked by crushing defeat as falling debris claimed his life.

Ao Arc

In an attempt to cover up his own deceit and manipulate others into believing his innocence, Victor collected Deepa's remaining body parts and fabricated evidence to shift the blame onto him. However, lacking trust in Victor's words, Jigen assigned Amado the task of restoring Deepa's brain so they could extract the truth about the events in the Land of Valleys.

Deepa's disembodied head was preserved in a tank for interrogation purposes. Armed with this valuable information, Koji Kashin received orders to eliminate Victor, as his usefulness had come to an end. Furthermore, Jigen commanded Amado to destroy Deepa's head, completely dissolving any trace of his existence.

Deepa possessed a sinister and ruthless nature that set him apart from the rest. Unencumbered by moral constraints, he was a bloodthirsty sociopath, displaying an unnerving willingness to kill without hesitation or genuine provocation. This inhumanity made it difficult for others to comprehend his actions or motivations.

A thirst for battle consumed Deepa, his mind fixated on seeking out formidable adversaries. He relished in the exhilaration of a challenging fight, reveling in the intense struggle that ensued. His sadistic inclinations surfaced, as he viewed his opponents as mere prey, beneath him in every sense. The fear and agony he inflicted upon others provided him with a perverse satisfaction, and he took pleasure in prolonging their torment.

Deepa's twisted nature manifested in his manipulative tactics. He would cunningly feign vulnerability, pretending to be affected by his enemies' attacks, luring them into a false sense of triumph. But when the time was right, he would shatter the illusion, delighting in the ensuing confusion and terror etched upon his opponents' faces.

He had an unexpected passion for gastronomy, relishing the opportunity to explore an extensive array of flavors the world had to offer. However, due to his twisted nature, he had descended into cannibalism, harboring a macabre desire to taste the blood and flesh of his enemies, finding it oddly intriguing.

Despite his deranged inclinations, Deepa's behavior was characterized by erratic shifts. While he would impulsively slaughter individuals in one moment, he could exhibit an uncanny calmness, opting not to kill those who were unable to put up a fight.

Above all else, Deepa's greatest aspiration was to sample the fruit of the God Tree itself, convinced that it possessed the purest and most exquisite flavor in existence. Witnessing the destruction of the artificial Tree that he and Victor had conspired to recreate shattered his composure, driving him into a violent rage against Team 7, as he believed they had denied him the opportunity to taste the coveted fruit.

An inherently independent individual, Deepa cared little about the opinions others held of him. He openly acknowledged the lack of trust his allies placed in him, remaining indifferent to their perceptions. Deeply vain, he regarded his refined carbon form as the epitome of beauty, viewing himself as invincible.

Deepa was committed to maintaining an air of mystery, going to great lengths to eliminate anyone who laid eyes upon his face, with the exception of his allies. Nevertheless, he displayed a certain level of disrespect towards his comrades, including Victor.

Despite his sadistic nature, Deepa possessed a twisted sense of honor. He offered Omoi a chance to spare his life in exchange for revealing the location of the Hashirama Cell, and he upheld his end of the bargain after Omoi's subordinates relented.

However, in a twisted turn of events, he deviated from his promise and ended the lives of Kakui and Marui, as they were not part of the original agreement. Moreover, he had a sense of responsibility, prioritizing his mission over personal gratification.

Deepa was a slender man with a tall, pale complexion. His physique was lean yet sculpted, and his short hair displayed shades of greyish purple. His striking orange-red eyes captivated those who met his gaze. Underneath his eyes, a tattoo of the Roman numeral "Ⅶ" added an air of mystery to his appearance. Completing his unique look, Deepa adorned his lips with light blue lipstick.

His attire was equally intriguing. A black cloak, lined with a rich maroon hue, draped over his frame. His choice of footwear consisted of shinobi sandals, lending him an aura of agility. Concealed beneath the cloak, Deepa wore a midriff shirt in a vibrant shade of blue, complementing his overall style. Around his waist, a symmetrically bi-colored apron was intricately tied, adding a touch of symmetry to his ensemble.

On his left arm, a long glove stretched, covering his hand and extending past his wrist. On his right hand, he sported a gauntlet-like fingerless glove, adding a hint of ruggedness to his otherwise refined appearance. Altogether, Deepa's attire and distinctive features made him an enigmatic figure in any setting.

As an Inner of Kara, Deepa underwent extensive body modifications utilizing Scientific Ninja Tools engineered by Amado. These enhancements propelled him into a realm of power and ability that was deemed truly monstrous, with his capabilities surpassing the limits of mere mortals. He displayed an unrivaled prowess that left others in awe.

Deepa's forte lay in close-range combat, where he excelled with blazing speed and an unrelenting ferocity in taijutsu. His movements were fluid and precise, allowing him to calmly defend against and repel attacks from multiple opponents, even when faced with a team of highly skilled kenjutsu users.

His strikes carried immense force, often incapacitating his adversaries with just a few blows. The sheer strength he possessed was demonstrated by his ability to effortlessly hoist a grown man into the air using only a single hand.

Furthermore, Deepa exhibited remarkable precision and accuracy. His aim was exceptional, as he effortlessly hurled a simple dining knife at the bullseye of a dartboard with nonchalant ease, even without looking.

Ninjutsu

Deepa possessed a unique ability to utilize Yin Release, enabling him to project an image of himself for remote communication with others. However, his most distinctive and signature skill revolved around his control over carbon manipulation. Deepa could manipulate the molecular bonding of carbon within his vicinity, resulting in a transformation of his skin into a dark, reflective substance akin to metal.

This metamorphosis extended to his fingers, transforming them into razor-sharp talons. The manipulation was not limited to specific body parts; he could apply it to any or all areas of his body at will. In this transformed state, Deepa's body became exceptionally resilient, rendering him impervious to Lightning Release attacks and enabling him to effortlessly block blades and chakra-enhanced strikes barehanded.

He displayed remarkable endurance, remaining unfazed by powerful explosions and even techniques as potent as the Rasengan. The metallic transformation also amplified his physical strength, allowing him to effortlessly send opponents hurtling through the air with a mere flick of his finger, and his devastating strikes had the ability to pierce through a person's chest.

Moreover, Deepa had the capability to manipulate raw carbon in his surroundings, freely shaping and controlling it to form various structures. He displayed mastery over this ability, seamlessly manipulating numerous targets simultaneously, launching them as a relentless barrage of projectiles with tremendous concussive force. He could condense these projectiles for even more destructive attacks, such as obliterating a massive Iron Sand wall erected by Shinki.

As a final line of defense, Deepa had the ability to combine both aspects of his carbon manipulation, encasing himself in an immense armor of unparalleled fortitude. This defensive and offensive armor reached its zenith when Deepa refined the carbon into diamond-like hardness. While Deepa acknowledged that this armor had its weaknesses, he did not provide further details.
