Fuinjutsu

Fuinjutsu, also known as Sealing Jutsu, is a classification of Jutsu. Jutsus by which a shinobi can seal a being, an object and chakra within another object or a being are classified as Sealing Jutsus. Fuinjutsu also comes in handy to restrict movements, like when Naruto used Torri to restrict Nine-Tails movements. It can be identified by the presence of certain markings and patterns depending on the Jutsu.

Fuinjutsu requires chakra, and one needs to weave hand signs to use it. Fuinjutsu can be undone with the use of Fuinjutsu Release Techniques, depending on the Fuinjutsu used.

History of Fuinjutsu

Fuinjutsu is arguably one of the few techniques that have been around since ancient times. Hagoromo Otsutsuki and his brother Hamura Otsutsuki were the first individuals who used a sealing technique. Hagoromo and his brother Hamura used the Six Paths - Chibaku Tensei to seal their mother Kaguya Otsutsuki. It is a sealing technique that can only be used by someone who has acquired Six Paths powers. It combines the Yin and Yang powers, creating a strong seal. The Six Paths - Chibaku Tensei was so massive, that it is said that that was how the Naruto World got its moon.

Fuinjutsu Users

1. Hashirama Senju

Hashirama Senju is undoubtedly one of the strongest individuals to ever exist in the history of the shinobi world. He was renowned as the God of Shinobi. Hashirama has also showcased mastery in Fuinjutsu with his Sage Art: Gate of Great God. He used this technique against the Ten-Tails in the Fourth Great Ninja War. When he used this technique, giant torii gates pinned down the beast. This Fuinjutsu not only restricts its target’s movements but also nullifies their will to oppose this Jutsu, making them submissive.

2. Mito Uzumaki

Mito Uzumaki came from the Hidden Eddy Village, a village renowned for its strong Fuinjutsu techniques. She was a member of the Uzumaki Clan and possessed a strong Chakra, strong enough to restrain the Nine-Tailed Fox. She was the First Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tailed Fox.

3. Hiruzen Sarutobi

Hiruzen Sarutobi was one of the strongest shinobi of his era who supposedly had surpassed his predecessors in his prime. He was believed to be the strongest among the Five Kages in his time.He had mastered all the Hidden Leaf Jutsus and gained the nickname, The Professor. He was skilled and well versed in the use of Sealing Jutsu techniques. When Orochimaru invaded the Hidden Leaf Village, he was able to seal the souls of the previous Hokage, Hashirama Senju, and Tobirama Senju, as well as Orochimaru’s arms with the use of the Reaper Death Seal even in his old age.

4. Kushina Uzumaki

Kushina Uzumaki, the wife of the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze, was a member of the Uzumaki Clan who had come to the Hidden Leaf Village from the Hidden Eddy Village. Being a member of a clan that specialized in Fuinjutsu, she was privileged with the knowledge of many rare sealing techniques.

Kushina possessed strong and massive reserves of Chakra. Because of her strong Chakra, she was chosen to be the Second Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tailed Fox, when Mito had gotten old and nearing the end of her natural lifespan. Kushina used her Adamantine Sealing Chains Technique to tame the Nine-Tailed Fox and keep it under control.

5. Minato Namikaze

Minato Namikaze was named the Fourth Hokage of the Village Hidden in the Leaves at a very young age. He was a prodigy of the Hidden Leaf who was a full-fledged shinobi capable of going against Jonin-level shinobi before the age of 18. He led the Hidden Leaf to victory in the Third Great Ninja War when he killed 1000 shinobi on the battlefield, forcing the Hidden Stone Village to sign a treaty. This achievement earned him the nickname, Yellow Flash of the Hidden Leaf.

He was skilled in many sealing techniques which he had learned from Kushina and her mother. He showcased his excellent skills in sealing techniques when he split the Nine-Tailed Fox's Chakra into two parts, sealing one half in his son, Naruto Uzumaki, with the help of the 8 Trigrams Sealing Technique. He sealed the other half in himself by using the Reaper Death Seal.
