Genji is a fictional character in the popular manga and its anime adaptation, the Naruto series, written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto.

Genji is an elder belonging to the Village Hidden in the Mist situated in the Land of Water. Although very little is known about him, it is stated that he dedicated his life to the well-being of Hidden Mist Village and is a valuable citizen of the hidden village.

Very little is known about his childhood and Genji’s past as his heritage is still shrouded in mystery. Nearly nothing is known about his past other than the fact that he has devoted his life to the welfare of Hidden Mist Village and is a valuable member of the village. He is as important to the community as when it comes to the most crucial decisions, people turn, even the Mizukage of Hidden Mist, to him for guidance.
In a sense, this makes him the law of Hidden Mist Village and nothing gets past him. In the anime, Genji was the one who advised the Hidden Mist to not send genins to represent the Hidden Mist by participating in the chunin exams organized by Hidden Leaf and Hidden Sand Village. He suggested that the Hidden Mist Village should focus all its attention to attend to its internal affairs.
Genji had a limited appearance in the series and he appeared during the Five Kage Summit. Genji gives the Mizukage headgear to Mei Terum, the Fifth Mizukage of Hidden Mist Village when she was about to leave for the Kage Summit. He smiles and giggles as she promises to perform her duties as Mizukage to the best of her ability.
After this incident, Genji has not appeared since and due to his lack of appearance, whether he is dead or alive is not confirmed. As of now, Genji is presumed to be alive and well until any information comes to light suggesting otherwise.
Due to his lack of appearance in the series and any related information, almost nothing is known about Genji’s personality. From his status, it can be deduced that Genji is a responsible and reliable individual. He dedicated his entire life to the prosperity of his origins, the Village Hidden in the Mist.
Genji is a balding, extremely old man with a yellow scarf around his shoulders and is dressed in a brown kimono. The staff he wields is similarly made to resemble a demon-like monster with fiery eyes and a mouth full of jagged teeth.
Although Genji renowned citizen and a reliable individual of the Hidden Mist, close to no information is available about the skills and abilities he possessed. As he had limited appearances in the series, he is never seen performing any of his techniques or abilities.
Based on his role in the series, it can be deduced that he possesses a sharp intellect as his advice and guidance are sought out even by the Mizukage of the Hidden Mist.
