Hishaku was a young sailor who dreamt that he would become a captain of his own ship one day. His soul did not rest in peace till he had defeated the sea creature who killed his crew. He was quite a good and dedicated kid.

While they were at sea, Naruto, Guy and a few other Konoha shinobi encountered a ship and they thought that it was a ghost ship. After Naruto helped Hishaku with his chores with the help of Shadow Clones, he explained the phenomenon to them and revealed that he desired to become a Captain one day.
After encountering the giant corpse crab at Sea, Hishaku told them the story of how it had killed his crewmates and begged them to defeat the beast. While Naruto fought with the beast Hishaku used the ship as a battering ram to give Naruto an opening to attack it with its Rasengan.
After the beast was defeated he thanked Naruto and revealed that he was actually a ghost that could not rest until and until the crab was defeated. He later on meets up with his dead crew mates and tells them that they defeated the crab and that they could rest in peace together and they began to celebrate the defeat of the monster that had killed them.
Hishaku was an honorable and very devoted person. He never rested until he avenged all his fallen crew members by killing the Skeleton crab that wiped them out. His spirit also kept the ship he once served on in very good condition while he was waiting to kill the crab. He also thought very highly of his ship's captain.
Hishaku had shoulder-length brown hair with light brown eyes and thick eyebrows. He wore a white sailor suit with a blue collar and red handkerchief along with a blue and white hat. He also carried around a worn-down broom that his captain had given him.
Hishaku was extremely skilled in cleaning, sweeping, and pegging sheets to ropes to dry. He also used a form of cleaning in which he and his crew members used the cleaner taps the head of the broom in the rhythm off the ground between sweeps.
