Tajima Uchiha and his lover had five children during a time when shinobi were frequently on the front lines of battle and the village system had not yet been established. Madara Uchiha was their oldest son, while Izuna Uchiha was their second-eldest son.
Izuna harbored a bitter animosity for the Senju Clan after three of his siblings were murdered by members of their rival clan, the Senju Clan. Izuna and his older brother were forged into one of the most powerful shinobi in their time of war via rigorous training and combat on the battlefield. Madara and Izuna would often train with each other, improving their skills.
When Izuna was a young child, he learned one day that his older brother Madara Uchiha was secretly meeting someone. That person was Hashirama Senju, the first child of Butsuma Senju, the chief of the Senju Clan at the time. To kill Hashirama and inflict harm to the Senju Clan, Tajima and Izuna prepared an ambush.
However, things did not go as planned, and they were confronted by Butsuma and his son Tobirama Senju. Tajima battled with Butsuma, and Izuna engaged in a fight against Tobirama. They were stopped after Madara’s interference. Izuna was astounded to hear his older brother say that Hashirama was more powerful than he was and that they would lose this battle and have to flee.
The Uchiha Clan and Senju Clan engaged in multiple battles with one another over the following years. At some point, Madara became the Uchiha Clan's leader while Hashirama took over as the Senju Clan's chief. Tobirama and Izuna engaged in several battles. In their final encounter, Tobirama surprised him with his Flying Raijin Technique and dealt him a devastating blow. Hashirama provided Madara with the chance to get Izuna to a safe location after seeing his younger brother fatally wounded, and Madara retreated with his brother.
When Madara and Hashirama later engaged in combat on the battlefield once more, Madara revealed that Izuna had died as a result of the fatal wounds Tobirama had inflicted on him. Izuna made the decision to offer his older brother his Mangekyo Sharingan eyes as his final act so that he may get the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.
He believed that by doing this, Madara would be able to keep his clan safe from their attackers because he saw how his brother's blindness was worsening as a result of using the Mangekyo Sharingan over and over again. Many thought Madara had taken his dying brother's eyes in order to grow stronger for his own selfish goals.
Very little information is available about Izuna and his personality as a character in the series. He was a proud member of the Uchiha clan and the younger brother of Madara Uchiha. The Senju Clan and the Uchiha Clan were constantly in conflict with each other being the two most powerful clans of the Warring State Period.
Based on the information available about Izuna, he appeared to be very competitive. He would often spar with his elder brother and train with him to test his limits and break through them. Izuna respected his father and adored his family and fellow clan mates. He had unwavering loyalty toward his family and clan.
Izuna lost his three younger siblings at the hands of the members of the Senju clan in between their conflicts. Izuna bore hatred towards the Senju clan and wanted to destroy them. Madara was an exceptional shinobi, even among the fearsome Uchiha Clan. Madara was capable of going toe to toe against seasoned shinobi.
Izuna respected his elder brother and looked up to him. When Madara stated that Hashirama Senju was stronger than him, Izuna was taken aback with disbelief. He was very proud of being a member of the Uchiha clan and his heritage. Izuna possessed the Uchiha clan’s legendary Dojutsu, Sharingan. Once in his battle against Tobirama, he stated that he pitied those who never had the privilege of having the Sharingan.
Izuna was proud of his Sharingan and the abilities that came with it. He believed that those who didn’t possess the Sharingan were cursed. Ironically, it was later revealed in the series that the Sharingan could be considered the curse of the Uchiha Clan, as one can only awaken the Sharingan after going through excruciating mental trauma.
Izuna’s hatred towards the Senju clan knew no limits. Izuna was blinded by his hatred and could not see the greater good outside his clan, and focused solely on his clan and himself. Tobirama Senju described this characteristic of the members of the Uchiha clan members as their Curse of Hatred.
When Izuna received a fatal wound against Tobirama, Hashirama Senju offered Madara peace and offered to join forces with the Senju clan, and he will even heal Izuna. Izuna refused to be saved by the hands of a Senju and chose death over life. He also told Madara that joining forces with the Senju clan would mean the end of the Uchiha Clan.
Izuna was very protective of his clan and he fought countless battles for the pride of the Uchiha clan and its members. Even on his deathbed, he was thinking about the welfare of the clan. He offered his Sharingan eyes to his elder brother as he knew that Madara was losing light in his eyes, a price he had to pay for being privy to the visual prowess of the Mangekyo Sharingan.
Izuna offered his eyes to Madara so that he could continue to fight for the clan and protect it from its enemies. As a result, Madara gained the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and kept fighting for the welfare of the clan.
As a child, Izuna had short and spiky dark hair. His outfit consisted of traditional high collared attire with Uchiha Crest on the upper back and chest plate for protection against enemy attacks. He also carried a sword attached to his left side lower waist.
Izuna was a fair-skinned man with spiky, dark hair that had been pulled back into a ponytail and had a blue tint to it. His bangs are divided in the middle, framing both sides of his face. He dressed in the traditional Uchiha attire, which included a blue shirt with a high collar and the Uchiha crest on the upper back, as well as blue slacks with bandages at the ends.
He wore a bandage belt around his waist that was attached to a bag that likely carried ninja tools. On his right side, lower waist, he carried a sword. Izuna held a striking resemblance to one of the main characters of the series and a fellow Uchiha clan member, Sasuke Uchiha.
Before there was a village structure, Izuna Uchiha was a well-known shinobi of the Uchiha Clan. Izuna had demonstrated his value on the battlefield time and time again with his strength and eye-hand coordination. Only his older brother, Madara Uchiha, was stronger than Izuna among the Uchiha of that era.
Even by Uchiha standards, Izuna and his sibling possessed an extremely potent chakra. Izuna possessed sufficient strength to compete head-to-head with Tobirama Senju, who is regarded as one of the strongest and fastest shinobi to have ever lived. Izuna has demonstrated unrivaled skill with his sword and knowledge of Kenjutsu in the anime. Apart from this, Izuna was capable of Fire Release and Yin Release Techniques.
Izuna was extremely proud of the Uchiha lineage and the Sharingan, their renowned and distinctive visual ability. Izuna was born during a time of war, which may have contributed to the early awakening of his Sharingan. When his Sharingan was fully awakened, Izuna was able to use all of its powers, including the ability to foresee his opponent's next move by analyzing their chakra flow, analyze situations in great detail, and block and evade the majority of their blows.
Izuna Uchiha, along with his older brother Madara Uchiha, was one of the very few people in Uchiha Clan history to activate the Mangekyo Sharingan. He had a very distinctive Mangekyo Sharingan pattern with three wide bars coming out of his expanded pupils. Although he possessed such powerful ocular jutsu, he was never seen activating it or using any of its abilities in the anime.
In the anime, Izuna showcased his proficiency in two jutsus, which were:
