Kokuri originally dreamed of becoming a ninja but couldn't make it. Instead, he became an accountant for a company. But there was a big twist. He discovered that the company was a front for the Mujina Bandits criminal group. Realizing he was helping crooks, Kokuri ran away, taking some of their stolen money with him.
One day, Kokuri tried to help during a theft but knocked out the wrong person. The police arrested him, thinking he was part of the theft, and sent him to the tough Hōzuki Castle prison.
Kokuri briefly joined the Mujina Bandits and stole some of their money before leaving the group. But he was caught for another crime and sent back to Hozuki Castle. Inside, he kept his past with the Mujina Bandits a secret, fearing for his life.
Worried that the Mujina Bandits might find him in prison, Kokuri contacted Konohagakure, offering to give them information about the Mujina Bandits in exchange for protection. To stay safe, he hurt himself on purpose and framed another prisoner, Tsukiyo, which got him moved to the medical ward.
Boruto and his friends met Kokuri in prison, but things got off to a rocky start. They eventually decided to help keep Kokuri safe. One day, while talking to Kokuri secretly, Boruto was suddenly attacked by Tsukiyo. Tsukiyo demanded to know where the stolen money was.
Kokuri revealed that he had donated it to a medical center. But it turned out that "Tsukiyo" was a test created by Sarada Uchiha to see if Kokuri could be trusted. When the prison warden, Mujo, fell ill, a new leader named Benga took charge and decided to transfer Kokuri to another prison with more Mujina Bandits.
Boruto and his team learned about a supply ship coming to the prison and sabotaged the water supply as part of their escape plan. During their escape, Kokuri worried about Sarada's lack of communication, but they decided to trust her and move forward. They faced challenges, including a dangerous fire-breathing hound and the water tank draining.
Kokuri used a powerful jutsu but started hurting himself. Sarada came to the rescue with her water jutsu. Just when things seemed better, Tsukiyo attacked again. Kokuri gave Boruto a notebook with information about the Mujina Bandits.
They figured out Tsukiyo's weakness but were too late. Tsukiyo revealed himself as the leader, Shojoji, and used a strange technique to devour Kokuri, ending his life.
Kokuri had a kind and regretful personality as he felt bad about his past actions and wanted to make amends. He was also willing to help others and was trustworthy when it mattered.
Kokuri wears an orange jumpsuit along with brown sandals. One distinctive thing about him is that he wears round-framed black glasses. He is a man with pale skin. He has a long nose, a narrow jaw, and high cheekbones. He's not too tall, about average in height. His hair is straight and black and goes down to his chin.
Kokuri was a strong man even though he failed to become the shinobi, but he still tried to use fire-release jutsu.
