Kusuma’s Background

Very little is known about Kusuma’s past. Due to his limited appearances in the series, little is known about his lineage or background other than the fact that he is a mask salesman in Tanzaku Quarters.

Kusuma first appeared in the Search for Tsunade Arc and in this arc, Naruto Uzumaki, the protagonist of the series, bought a mask from Kusuma. As Naruto leaves while trying on the mask, he stumbles and falls. Kusuma then advised Naruto not to walk while wearing that mask.

Kusuma has not appeared since this incident; thus, his absence makes it impossible to say whether he is dead or alive. He is currently assumed to be alive and well unless any information indicates otherwise.
