Maori played a significant role in the movies and as a spy for the Hidden Cloud, Maroi is dispatched to the Hozuki Castle. There, he is able to win the favor of Mui, the master of the Hozuki castle and the film's main antagonist, and frequently acts as his aide to carry out his commands to kidnap prisoners.
Naruto Uzumaki, the protagonist of the movie, was persuaded by Maroi to rebel against Mui and was imprisoned in solitary confinement where he had access to gather nature energy. Additionally, before the Box of Ultimate Bliss was discovered, he organized the last significant rebellion at the penitentiary.
He then signals his allies with a signal flare. In the end, it was revealed that Maroi was also a part of the cooperative effort with the Hidden Leaf Village to identify the person who was impersonating Naruto, who was later revealed to be Kazan, and make sure the box was never used again.

Maroi is capable of manipulating two chakra releases, Fire Release chakra, and Lightning Release chakra. In the movie, he could be seen using Water Release: Archerfish and Lightning Release: Lightning Signal Fire. Unfortunately, the extent of his jutsu arsenal is still shrouded in mystery.
