Mizunoto in Naruto

Very little is known about his childhood and Mizunoto’s past as his heritage is still shrouded in mystery. Due to his limited appearances in the series and his affiliation with Anbu, close to nothing is known about his lineage or background other than the fact that he served under Danzo as an elite member of the Root Anbu unit.

Mizunoto had a limited appearance in the series and he was first seen in episode 424 of NarutoShippuden, which was titled Mystery of Pain. Danzo gave Mizunoto and the rest of the Root Anbu orders not to help the village until the commotion settled after the Six Paths of Pain, the leader of the notorious criminal organization known as the Akatsuki, invaded the Hidden Leaf Village. Danzo's directives, however, were questioned by Mizunoto, who argued that if all the residents of Hidden Leaf were already dead then it would be useless for Danzo to succeed as Hokage.

Danzo said that the majority of the villagers will be secure and that all was done to bring Tsunade's era to an end. He and the other Anbu remained underground as instructed while the battle continued. In the anime, Danzo assigned Mizunoto and nine other Root members the task of eliminating Hiruzen in order to stop him from regaining his position as Hokage.

He battled the Anbu accompanying his target while disguising himself as a foreign shinobi, discovering that the Anbu was actually Kakashi Hatake, which led to the failure of the mission. Mizunoto has not appeared since this occurrence and thus his absence makes it impossible to say for sure whether he is dead or alive. He is currently assumed to be alive and well unless any information surfaces indicating otherwise.

Due to his lack of appearance in the series and any related information, almost nothing is known about Mizunoto’s personality. From his status, Mizunoto, like all other Root Anbu, is steadfastly devoted to Danzo.

Additionally, he looks out for his own interests, expressing concern that if Hidden Leaf's population were to perish, Danzo's ambition to become Hokage would be rendered useless.

Mizunoto is a tall shinobi with elaborately styled black hair and he is dressed in a standard Anbu cloak. With dark teal, dot-shaped eyebrows and red, pointed-toothed lips, his mask is distinctive in that it features two colors. He has also been seen welding a sword which combined with his top knot, gave him a samurai-like appearance at first glance.

Although Mizunoto was a Root Anbu, close to no information is available about the skills and abilities he possessed. Furthermore, he had limited appearances in the series, and thus he is never seen performing any of his techniques or abilities. Despite this, he must have possessed great skills and abilities as he was an elite member of Danzo’s Root Anbu which had left its mark with its ruthless nature.

Mizunoto can also be seen welding a sword which indicates that he is quite skilled in sword fighting skill, also known as Kenjustu. Although he failed in his mission to assassinate Hiruzen Sarutobi, he survived in a fight against the famous Kakashi of the Sharingan, the Copy Ninja, and lived to tell about it which is a feat on its own.
