Very little is known about his childhood and the information regarding Mujin’s past, his heritage is still shrouded in mystery. Mujin is a graduate of the Ninja Academy and a genin of the Village Hidden in the Sand. He participated in the chunin exams along with Mijin and Sajin as Team Sajin.
In the anime, Mujin along with his comrades appeared in InNaruto’s Footsteps: The Friends’ Paths. They participated in the Chunin Exams held by the Village Hidden in the Sand and Hidden Leaf Village as a joint venture. In the first phase of the exam, they were supposed to pass a written exam where ShikamaruNara served as a proctor.
The squad was divided and seated in different rooms. Shikamaru explained on a monitor that each person only needed to respond to one question, but that their team's total score had to be exactly 100 points to pass. While everyone was scrambling to figure out how to ace the exam, Sajin used his Sand Characters technique to get in touch with Mujin and Mijin and let them know which questions they should each attempt.
Shikamaru revealed a bonus question after the allotted time had expired. In a scenario requiring a decoy, he questioned as to who the group would be willing to sacrifice, adding that the response needed to be accepted by all team members. Sajin instructed his squad to pick Mijin using his technique.
Later, Sajin and Mujin were surprised to discover that many of the other ninjas who had passed were still with their entire team. Everyone was present because they left the answer blank and chose no one to leave behind, according to NejiHyuga, which indicated that the second question was a ruse to gauge the team's allegiance. Temari, one of the Three Sand Siblings and another proctor, continued by stating that any team lacking all three members was automatically disqualified.
With this development, Mujin and his squad was disqualified from the chunin exams. After this incident, Mujin has not appeared since and thus due to his lack of appearance, it has not been confirmed whether he is dead or alive. As of now, Mujin is presumed to be alive and well until any information comes to light suggesting otherwise.
Due to his lack of appearance in the series and any related information, almost nothing is known about Mujin’s personality. Based on his limited role, it can be deduced that Mujin is a skilled shinobi but is open to leaving a comrade behind in case of danger to complete the mission, based on his answer to the bonus question.
Mujin has short, brown hair with spikes and he has been seen dressed in a pair of grey metal-like eye and ear coverings, as well as a blue-strapped Hidden Sand forehead protector. He has two green splotches that go down his face from just below his eyes. It is also believed that he wore the standard Hidden Sand shinobi sandals as most of the Hidden Sand shinobi.
Although Mujin is a full-fledged genin of the Hidden Sand Village, no information is available regarding his abilities. He never used any technique or showed any significant skill in his limited appearance.
