Popular Naruto Teams

There are a lot of teams in the Naruto universe but out of all teams, the series only focuses on a few main teams. These teams are Team 7, Team 8, Team 10 and Team Guy.

These teams have their own strong points in their missions and do not necessarily work alone. They also have collaborative missions together.

Teams In Naruto

Team 7:

After their graduation, Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke were put together in a team under the leadership of Kakashi Hatake and were known as Team 7. The dynamics of Team 7 consisted of Naruto Uzumaki, the worst student of the class, Sakura Harano, for her intelligence and chakra control, and Sasuke Uchiha, for his mastery of ninjutsu and genjutsu.

They benefited from each other like Naruto learning from Sakura's intelligence, Sakura learning from her how to battle her comrades and so on. Kakashi led the team to keep an eye on the Nine-Tails jinchuriki and to also help Sasuke develop his Sharingan. As Kakashi did with his previous teams, he also gave Team 7 the 'bell test.'

A few of the starting missions of Team 7 were D-rank, which Naruto thought were mere easy jobs for him. After pestering the Third Hokage, they were given a C-rank mission to escort someone to the Land of Waves. After the mission began they got to know more about the mission and that changed the situation. It also meant that the mission was no longer the original one and that the real mission was an A-rank mission, which was way above their Genin level.

Despite this, they manage and pull through the mission successfully. Once they return, Kakashi thinks that they all are qualified enough to participate in the chunin exams. But despite their strength Team 7 is unable to pass the chunin exams. After the chunin exams, Sasuke believed that him being a part of Team 7 is drifting him away from his true goal, i.e., killing his brother Itachi.

He leaves Konoha to go join Orochimaru. Naruto is unable to stop him, Sakura tries to talk him out of it and when Kakashi tries to do anything, it is already too late. Later on, Naruto leaves Konoha to train under Jiraiya, and Sakura becomes Tsunade's disciple. Thus Team 7 was disbanded.

After two and a half years Naruto returns to the village and upon meeting Sakura and Kakashi they reform Team 7. Kakashi gives them a bell test, to see how their skills have improved over the years. As their first mission after years, they're sent to Sunagakure to rescue the fifth Kazekage (Gaara) from the Akatsuki.

During the mission, they get to know that there's a chance that they'll be able to see Sasuke but Kakashi over-exhausts himself which leads him to take bed rest. Due to the limited amount of time, Team 7 is assigned Yamato (an Anbu member) to investigate the information that they received on seeing Sasuke.

Sai is added to the team to increase the manpower of the team. They were successful in infiltrating Orochimaru's hideout and met Sasuke, but his growth in strength over the years was a lot more than theirs and they couldn't do anything beyond letting him escape. As Kakashi becomes busier with other tasks, Yamato becomes the leader of Team 7 and Sai becomes a permanent member.

When Kakashi and Team Asuma went to fight Hidan and Kakuzu, Yamato led Team 7 to help them provide backup. Afterward, they come up with a plan that to find Sasuke, but they first needed to find Itachi and create an eight-man squad for the plan.

The eight-man squad is unsuccessful in stopping Sasuke from falling into the hands of the Akatsuki. After the Pain arc, it was heard that Sasuke's crimes with the Akatsuki reached Konoha and Naruto tried to ask Sasuke to be pardoned but the Raikage refused.

On the other end, their classmates were coming up with a plan to personally kill Sasuke for what evil and chaos he has created. Sakura plotted to kill him on her own with Sai encouraging her but she wasn't able to and instead froze upon seeing him. She nearly lost her life because of that but luckily Kakashi saved her in time.

After Kakashi listens to the reasoning behind Sakura's action, he realizes that all of this wouldn't have happened if he had prevented Sasuke from going rogue and thinks of killing Sasuke himself but Naruto intervenes before this happens. Naruto and Sasuke have a battle but turn out to be evenly matched and thus decide that they will battle again another time.

During the Fourth Great Shinobi War, the members of Team 7 fight on the same side as Sasuke, who also doesn't want to fall victim to the infinite Tsukuyomi. They together fight against the Ten-tails, Obito Uchiha, and Madara Uchiha. Even though the whole battlefield ninjas were under infinite Tsukuyomi, Sasuke was able to protect Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi from it which made them the only ones to fight Kaguya Otsutsuki.

After they won the fight against Kaguya Otsutsuki, their alliance came to an end and Sasuke said that he wanted to start a revolution by killing the tailed beasts and current Kages. However, Naruto opposed this idea and they fought to settle the matter. After fighting for a long time, the battle ends in a draw as the duo are injured to a point that they're unable to move and Sasuke finally surrenders and accepts Naruto's friendship.

For all that Sasuke did for the war, he’s pardoned for his crimes when Naruto and Kakashi gave their good words and he re-allies himself with Konoha. After the war, Kakashi becomes the 7th Hokage and Naruto, Sai and Sakura disband Team 7 on good terms to focus on their new responsibilities.

Team 8:

Team 8 was the Genin team led by Kurenai Yuhi. This team consisted of Kiba Inuzuka and Akamaru, Shino Aburame and Hinata Hyuga. They mostly specialized in tracking and locating which was with the help of Hinata's Byakugan, Kiba's keen sense of smell and Shino’s insects.

In Shippuden when Kurenai got pregnant with Asuma's child and took a break, Kakashi took over the team and took over their missions for a while.

The team also were involved in the plan with the others to personally kill Sasuke with the other teams. This decision was made so that they could stop Sasuke from taking the Leaf Village down with him and also to stop the risk of international war being caused.

They all were later on persuaded by Naruto that he'll be able to get through Sasuke, and he will handle this case. Ultimately, he was able to get through Sasuke and persuade him to turn over a new leaf.

Team 10:

Team 10 or also known as the Ino-Shika-Cho trio is a team known for its exceptional teamwork even though they tend to argue sometimes. They were great at stalling their opponents and were led by Asuma Sarutobi.

During the two and half years, the second chunin exams took place and Sakura temporarily joined team 10 as her teammates weren’t there and a team of three was required. Asuma had kept Shikamaru in charge as he was already a chunin.

They lost Asuma while fighting an Akatsuki member and after Asuma's death, Kakashi led Team 10 temporarily to help them avenge Asuma and they were successful in doing so. They were also a part of the whole plan to go and personally kill Sasuke after he had attacked Kumogakure and to prevent any international war between the nation. Naruto tried to talk to them to persuade Sasuke to which they agreed.

The team is assumed to be active without a permanent leader.

Team Guy:

Team Guy was led by Might Guy and it was formed a year before the other teams in Konoha. They specialize in close combat and have very good physical attacks.

Guy had waited a whole year before entering his team in the chunin exams even though his students didn't pass the exam. Later on Lee and Tenten became chunins and Neji surpassed them and rose to the rank of Jonin. Even though he is busy, Neji still makes it a point to go on missions with his team.
