Pochi’s Background

In the manga or its anime adaptation, Pochi only made a few brief appearances. He debuted in The Land Where a Hero Once Lived, episode 11 of the original Naruto series, and was introduced as the pet of Inari.

In the arc, Inari considered Pochi to be his one and only friend. Akane, a bully, and a little boy in the Land of Waves stole him from Inari and gave him a new name "Shooting Star." Akane eventually got bored with Pochi and decided he didn't want Pochi and dumped him into the river. Despite the fact that dogs typically know how to swim, Pochi began to drown as he couldn't grasp swimming right away.

Inari wanted to save Pochi but lacked the confidence to do so. Then, Akane pushed Inari into the river and he started to drown as well. When Inari began to drown, Pochi learned how to dog paddle and walked away, having lost faith in Inari after his cowardly actions.

Pochi hasn't shown up since this incident and her absence makes it impossible to ascertain whether she's dead or alive. Pochi is currently assumed alive and well unless any information comes to light indicating otherwise.
