Reanimation Jutsu is a Jutsu that uses a corpse as a vessel to forcibly summon the dead back to life. It is seen as a taboo jutsu and is forbidden to use.
This Jutsu was created by Tobirama Senju, the second Hokage but was discovered only later by Orochimaru, one of the Three Legendary Sannin. He imparted his knowledge to his subordinate, Kabuto Yakushi.
During the Fourth Great Shinobi War, this Jutsu was used as the tools to defeat the allied Shinobi forces by Kabuto.
Using this Jutsu would lead to the reanimations doing the summoner’s biddings unless they wished otherwise.

The Reanimation Jutsu was created by Tobirama Senju, the Fourth Hokage. He created it but made it a forbidden jutsu as it required sacrifices to be made in order to summon them.
Upon casting the Reanimation Jutsu, the summoned must obey the commands of the caster. However, there are a few exceptions to this. If the summoned is reanimated at their full power, it is possible that they may break this command. Performing certain Genjutsu on the summons can also break them free of this Jutsu.
Hiruzen Sarutobi was once cornered by Orochimaru after he used the reanimation jutsu on the first and second Hokage, upon which he sealed both of their souls in the Grim Reaper.
Reanimation Jutsu was again used in war against the allied shinobi forces. However, Kabuto lost control of some of his reincarnations and the rest were sealed away with the efforts of the forces along with Naruto Uzumaki. Orochimaru then summoned all the Hokage as an ally of the allied shinobi forces and set them free as well, leaving them as independent entities.
A lot of characters had been reanimated throughout the series, especially during the war arc. Here is a list of characters that have been reanimated:
Orochimaru regains his arms and switches sides to summon the four kage in order to help in war.
Kabuto summons Madara in order to get him to act as his puppet and fails miserably. Madara changes the tide of the war by a long shot.
Orochimaru goes against his master to cause chaos in Konoha. Since he couldn’t fight the God of Shinobi alone, he also summoned the first two Kage to help.
