Saiken’s Background

Hagoromo created Saiken and the other tailed beasts. He split the energy of a powerful Ten-Tail into Nine-Tailed Beasts, and Saiken is one of those Tailed Beasts. Hagoromo told the tailed beasts that they were connected and would be reunited one day. In the anime, Hagoromo arranged for Saiken to be kept safe in a special temple in a damp cave-like area before he passed away.

During the First Shinobi World War, Hashirama Senju captured eight-tailed beasts. To establish friendly relations and maintain a balance of power among the newly formed ninja villages, he sold two of these tailed beasts, Saiken and Isobu, to the village of Kirigakure during a gathering of the Five Kage.

Decades later, Saiken ended up sealed within a ninja named Utakata. In a dramatic turn of events, Utakata's mentor, Harusame, attempts to remove Saiken from Utakata to prevent him from becoming a dangerous weapon for their village. However, this extraction attempt failed.

Unfortunately, Utakata misunderstood his master's intentions and believed that Harusame had tried to kill him. This misunderstanding led to Utakata losing control and transforming into Saiken, resulting in the tragic death of his mentor, Harusame.

Six-tail Unleashed

In the anime, a dangerous technique called the Fury technique could have caused much harm. To protect everyone, Utakata, who had the Six-Tails inside him, transformed into the complete Six-Tails form, like a giant creature, to block the dangerous attack. But this brave act caught the attention of Nagato and his six helpers, known as the Six Paths of Pain.

Unfortunately, things took a tragic turn. Nagato's group captured Utakata and forcefully took Saiken, the Six-Tails, out of Utakata's body. This process is usually very risky and often leads to the person's death, and sadly, in this case, Utakata didn't make it. After removing Saiken, they sealed it inside a scary thing called the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. This marked the end of Utakata's journey as the Six-Tails' host.

Fourth Shinobi World War Arc

After Utakata fully transformed into the powerful Six-Tails, he attacked Kakashi and Guy. The Six-Tails spat out a corrosive substance from its mouth and Kakashi warned Guy not to touch it. Guy managed to get rid of the dangerous substance using his Morning Peacock technique, but the Six-Tails were ready to attack again.

Tobi decides to intensify things as he forced Utakata to transform even further into the Six-Tails. Other tailed beasts were also getting ready to fight against the shinobi, but a fully-powered Naruto stopped them.

The Six-Tails and the other tailed beasts started attacking Naruto and his tailed beast, Kurama. They even swallowed one of Naruto's arms but then Naruto and Kurama fought back by launching a powerful Tailed Beast Ball.

During this intense battle, Saiken, the Six-Tails, got a chance to introduce itself to Naruto. This happened as Naruto delved deeper into the world of the tailed beasts. Saiken's introduction confirmed Kurama's belief that Naruto was the person the Sage of the Six Paths had talked about a long time ago. However, since Obito Uchiha’s plan was to capture all the tailed beasts, including Saiken, he managed to do just that by using the Ten-Tail statue.

Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchuriki

In the anime, Saiken, the Six-Tails, was part of a big showdown involving all the tailed beasts, except Gyuki and Shukaku, when they confronted the Ten-Tails.

The Allied Shinobi Forces later managed to rescue the tailed beasts from Obito, setting them free, including Saiken. When Madara came toward the tailed beasts, Shukaku and Gaara used their sand powers to try to stop him. Saiken used its Starch Syrup Capturing Field technique with Shukaku Desert Layered Imperial Funeral to trap Madara but failed to do so as he used Susanoo to break free.

The tailed beasts then attacked Madara together, with Saiken joining in. They tried to pin him down, but Madara survived their attacks and moved to a safe spot. He got a new special eye called the Rinnegan from a White Zetsu clone and used it to control the tailed beasts. He chained them up and sealed them back into the Demonic Statue.

Later, Saiken and the other tailed beasts talked with Naruto inside his mind, along with the spirit of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki. They all believed that Naruto was the special child of prophecy. This part of the story was a big battle with powerful enemies and the tailed beasts trying to help Naruto fulfill his destiny.

Tailed Beast Reunion

Obito sealed part of Saiken's chakra into Naruto to save his life. Inside Naruto's mind, Saiken and the other tailed beasts met Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of the Six Paths. They supported Naruto, and Saiken even shared some of its chakras to boost Naruto's power during battles.

Kaguya Otsutsuki

However, in the end, Madara's evil plans were foiled by Black Zetsu, who turned out to be a secret puppet master manipulating shinobi history. Black Zetsu then used Madara's body to bring back Kaguya Otsutsuki, the original creator of the shinobi world. Not only that, she was considered to be a tyrannical and immensely powerful figure.

In the battle against Otsutsuki, Saiken and the other tailed beasts supported Naruto by lending him their collective power. They helped Naruto try to defeat Kaguya. Eventually, Naruto and his friend Sasuke overcame Otsutsuki's might by using a special technique called the Six Paths — Chibaku Tensei. This technique created a huge floating sphere that trapped Kaguya and separated her from the tailed beasts.

Otsutsuki was sealed away inside a newly-created moon within her own dimension, which was a way to keep her from causing harm to the world. After this intense battle, the spirits of Hagoromo, the sage who originally sealed the tailed beasts, and a few leaders of the shinobi villages from the past summoned the tailed beasts and Team 7 back to the real world.

The tailed beasts, who were finally free from Kaguya's control, began discussing their plans for the future.

However, Sasuke had different intentions as he wanted to lead a revolution and eliminate the current shinobi systems. His plan included eliminating anyone who could oppose him, including the current leaders of the villages, known as the Kage and the tailed beasts.

Sasuke quickly subdued the tailed beasts using his powerful Rinnegan and sealed them with a technique called Chibaku Tensei, which created massive spheres to contain them. But Naruto, who had a strong bond with the tailed beasts, reassured them that he would save them again.

After a final battle with Sasuke, Naruto was able to defeat him and change his mind. Together, they ended the Infinite Tsukuyomi, a powerful genjutsu that trapped people in their dreams. Sasuke released Saiken and the other tailed beasts from their prisons, granting them their freedom once more.

New Era - Versus Momoshiki Arc

In the anime, a character named Urashiki Ōtsutsuki started going after Saiken, one of the tailed beasts, to steal its chakra. It became clear that he wanted the chakra of all the tailed beasts. To deal with this threat, Naruto organized a special meeting where he could talk to the other tailed beasts using telepathy. However, the three-tailed beasts, Matatabi, Kokuō, and Chōmei, decided not to participate because they feared being captured and controlled by humans again, even though they trusted Naruto.

In a different storyline called the "Kawaki Arc," Saiken and the other tailed beasts sensed that Kurama, one of their companions, had sacrificed its life in a battle against a powerful enemy named Isshiki Otsutsuki. This was a significant moment in the story, showing the connection between the tailed beasts and their awareness of important events.

In Other Media

Video Games

Saiken shows up as a tough enemy you have to fight in games like "Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm" and "Naruto: Rise of a Ninja." There's also a fake version of Saiken you battle in "Naruto Shippūden: Kizuna Drive." If you want to play as Saiken, you can do that too! In some games like the "Ultimate Ninja" series, where you can choose Utakata and transform it into Saiken.

You can play as Saiken in both its small and big forms in some games, but in others like "Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution" and "Ultimate Ninja Storm 4," you can only be the big version of Saiken.

Saiken's role in "Naruto: The Last" movie

In the movie, Saiken and the other tailed beasts are targeted by a powerful antagonist named Toneri Otsutsuki. Toneri plans to capture the tailed beasts and use their chakra to power the "Tenseigan," a doomsday device. Naruto and his friends must work together to stop Toneri's plans and save the world.

Saiken and the other tailed beasts play a pivotal role in the final battle against Toneri. They combine their powers to assist Naruto in confronting the antagonist and preventing the catastrophic plan from being realized. The movie highlights the tailed beasts' willingness to cooperate with humans and the significance of their abilities in protecting the ninja world. It also showcases the growth of the relationship between Naruto and the tailed beasts, including Saiken, as they unite to face a common threat.

Saiken’s Personality

Saiken is a kind tail beast that trusts Utakata and one of the tail beasts that agreed quite fast to help Naruto Uzumaki. It does not really trust Humans, as when Naruto asked for help to fight against Urashiki Otsutsuki, it denied help.

Saiken’s Appearance

Saiken looks like a slug with six tails and two optical tentacles through which it sees others. There is always slime covering its body. It does not have a properly shaped mouth.

Saiken’s Abilities

Saiken is one of the most powerful-tailed beasts in the Naruto anime series, and there are many techniques it can use.

Control Over Jinchuriki

When the person whom Saiken is living inside (called a jinchuriki) falls asleep, Saiken can control them. This can be a problem for the jinchūriki, as it might keep them awake at night.

Nature Powers

Leech Gap

Saiken can produce a sticky and corrosive substance from its mouth, often called the "Leech Gap." This substance can be used both offensively and defensively. It can trap and immobilize enemies, making it difficult for them to move, and it can also cause severe damage upon contact due to its corrosive nature.

Soap Bubble Ninjutsu

Saiken is known for its water-release abilities, and one of its signature techniques is the "Soap Bubble Ninjutsu." This technique allows Saiken to create and manipulate soap-like bubbles made of water. These bubbles can be used for various purposes, including trapping opponents, creating defensive barriers, or launching them as projectile attacks. Saiken's bubbles can be quite versatile and effective in battle.

Water Release

Starch Syrup Capturing Field: Saiken's Water Release abilities extend to a technique called the "Starch Syrup Capturing Field." This technique lets Saiken release thick, sticky starch syrup into the surrounding area. This syrup is exceptionally adhesive, making it challenging for anyone caught within it to move or escape. It is a powerful restraining tool, allowing Saiken or its allies to control the battlefield.

Wisdom Wolf Decay

"Wisdom Wolf Decay" is another unique ability of Saiken. It involves using Saiken's corrosive and sticky substance to break down and deteriorate objects or substances it comes into contact with. This ability can be particularly destructive and is often used to dissolve obstacles or barriers.

Chakra Transfer Technique

This technique allows Saiekn to transfer their chakra to others, typically its jinchūriki (host), to boost their abilities or aid them in times of need.

Tailed Beast Ball

Saiken can unleash a devastating attack known as the Tailed Beast Ball, which is a massive sphere of concentrated chakra. It can cause significant destruction when launched.

Tailed Beast Full Charge

This jutsu involves Saiken charging itself with a surge of chakra, increasing its power and capabilities for a short period.

Tailed Beast Telepathy

Saiken, like other tailed beasts, possesses telepathic abilities. It can communicate mentally with its jinchūriki or other beings, allowing for silent and private conversations.
