He was a shinobi from Amegakure who took part in the Chunin Exams in Konohagakure (Village Hidden in the Leaves) but very little else is known about his upbringing or past. He demonstrated his skill as a shinobi and was successful in qualifying for the second round of the chunin exams.
In the second phase of the exam, Shigure and the members of Team Shigure—Midare and Baiu—confronted the Sand Siblings—Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro—in the Forest of Death. But Shigure and his teammates were no match for Gaara after Shigure targeted Gaara for his scroll.
Shigure used his Senbon Shower technique to corner his opponent but Gaara's sand defense halted his plans. As soon as he had the chance, Gaara used his Sand Binding Coffin jutsu to imprison Shigure, Midare, and Baiu. Gaara then killed the entire Team Shigure by crushing them with his sand coffin.
Based on his minimal appearance in the series, Shigure appeared to be an arrogant shinobi and was overconfident in his abilities, underestimating his opponents. He underestimated Gaara and that act of overconfidence cost him and his team their lives. It is also claimed that Shigure was proud of his village and would get defensive if anyone talked down to Amegakure.
Shigure had short, spiky brown hair, a strip of gauze across his forehead, and the right side of his mouth was partially stitched. In addition, he had two scars running up his right cheek, one of which had rendered his right eye blind, forcing him to keep it closed all the time. He wore a pin-striped light grey-blue jumpsuit with a dark black cloak. Additionally, he carried an oxygen tank and a sheath for his umbrellas on his back.
Although Shigure was a genin-level ninja from the Hidden Rain Village, it is stated that he possessed a very strong chakra. He had mastered Senbon Shower and used his umbrellas to perform it to eliminate his enemies. As he controlled the senbon with his chakra, it could cover a large area, not leaving any room for his targets to hide. It is stated that he also excelled in close-range battles.
In addition to Naruto manga and anime, Shigure is also a part of the Naruto games franchise. Shigure made his appearance in the gaming industry with the release of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Online and Naruto Mobile. In Naruto Mobile, he is a constant hurdle in the way of the main characters.
