Shu (lord) was kept as a hostage in the Land of This because the Land of That wanted to join an alliance with Land of Fire. But that was against the treaty between the Land of This and the Land of That. Thus as a result, the Land of That’s Daiymo requested Konohagakure to rescue his son.

Team Asuma (Team 10) and Naruto Uzumaki were sent to kidnap Shu from the Land of This. Their plan was to let Choji Akimichi and Naruto Uzumaki participate in the food competition that the Land of This hosted.

Shu watched the competition but by the 2nd round, Tatewaki told Shu (lord) to go for the sword training session with him. Shu (lord) felt that Tatewaki was being harsh with him in training but in the middle of that, Chiyo (princess) shouted at Tatewaki for his harsh training, which made Tatewaki end the training session.

Shu went back to watch the 3rd round of the food-eating competition and then Ino Yamanaka used her Mind Transfer Jutsu to gain control over Shu’s body and went to the bathroom. In the bathroom, Shikamaru Nara and Naruto appeared. Naruto transformed into Shu (lord) and then Shikamaru gave him the letter from his father and told him about the plan.

Naruto, as a disguised Shu (lord), went back to watch the contest and Shu hid in a big wicker basket as that was the prize given to the runner up and that’s why Shikamaru wanted Choji to finish second. As the competition progressed, Isono won the competition, where Choji won the 2nd prize and Tamao won the third prize. Later, Team 10 was able to kidnap Shu and Naruto stayed in the castle.

The next day Shu asked Team 10 to let him explore the new food shops but in reality, he wanted to go back to the castle to Chiyo. Shu eventually sneaked out from the ramen shop bathroom just as Akatsuki members Deidara and Sasori attacked the Land of This and especially the castle.

Shu ran toward the castle but Team 10 was able to find him and then told him that they will help to rescue Chiyo and Daimyo of the Land of This. Later Tatewaki got killed by one of the Sassori puppets but Naruto and Team 10 were able to rescue Chiyo and Shu and escort them to the Land of That.

Shu is not a very motivated young boy and he also does not have much respect for Tatewaki and his skills. He is caring and loves to try new food, just like a normal young boy. However, while he may not be motivated, Shu proved to be courageous when Akatsuki attacked the Land of This as he went to save Chiyo.

Shu has long brown hair and wears purple and white cloth. He wears a thin headband and a necklace that has one red pearl and two small blue pearls. When he was with Team 10 he wore white Kimono and inside it, he wore a light green color shirt.

Shu did not show any ability in the anime but it was seen that he takes Kendo classes with Tatewaki.
