Jiraiya is one of Konoha's Legendary Sannin. He traveled the world in search of knowledge that would help the people he held dear.
Jiraiya is generally light-hearted and gregarious, making jokes at his own expense and having a laugh about it afterwards. Jiraiya would establish a vast information network across the countries, and in battle demonstrated the ability to both recognize and analyze threats and danger on very short notice. Jiraiya was also capable of coming up with quick gambits and new strategies in the middle of battle based on his keen observations, which could be seen in his fight against Pain.

After Jiraiya graduated from the Academy, he was put in team Hiruzen with Orochimaru and Tsunade. Hiruzen gave them a bell test for the team's first exercise.
When Jiraiya tried to summon a toad without having a contract with it, he was brought to Mount Myoboku. There he got trained on various techniques and in sage mode.
When Jiraiya was taken to meet the Great Toad Sage, he predicted that Jiraiya would travel a lot and then one day meet the Child of Prophecy. The child would be Jiraiya’s student who would either save or destroy the world, depending on what path Jiraiya led them on.
When Jiraiya led his team, he started to think that his student Minato Namikaze might be the Child of Prophecy. He thought so because Minato was a natural genius. After that he took in Minato as his student and during their journey together, they learned a lot of things, especially from each other.
Even though their team disbanded, Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru continued to battle together during the Second Shinobi War. In their fight against Hanzo, they got the title of the 'Three Legendary Sannin'. After the fight was over and they were returning, they came across three orphans. Jiraiya decided to stay back and train these orphans named Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko. After spending a lot of time with Nagato, Jiraiya got to know that he possessed the rinnegan, which was used to save the world by the Sage of Six Paths. Jiraiya then thought that Nagato might be the Child of Prophecy.
After three years of training, Jiraiya thought that they were ready to be on their own and returned to Konoha. He then worked on his book, which he was inspired to do when Nagato said that it was possible to end the bloodshed. He did not know how as of yet but he would surely find a way to achieve peace. After Minato was named Hokage, he read Jiraiya's book and told his master that the main character reminded him of Jiraiya himself. Minato and Kushina then decided to name their unborn child Naruto, after the main protagonist of the book.
Jiraiya died while fighting Pain in Amegakure when he was investigating the Akatsuki and their plans.
Jiraiya had a large amount of Chakra reserves to summon Gamabunta and to use Sage mode. He mastered chakra control so well that he could perform Rasengan in both his hands, without it getting disrupted.
He was able to withstand a lot of attacks. Due to this resilient behavior, he comes face to face with death twice and survives.
He is also known as the Toad Sage, a ninjutsu master. He is affiliated with many attacks from summoning toads, to spitting oil, to hiding himself in his opponent’s shadows and controlling them. He is also skilled in various other styles, for example he can manipulate his hair to bind and destroy, and can also use it as a shield that injures anyone who comes in contact.
He is well versed in the forbidden techniques as he was able to understand the working of Naruto's Eight Trigrams Seal when he saw the seal design. He could also quickly remove the seal's restrictions.
He can make seals suppress people's chakra as well as absorb other people's chakra. He can also erect barriers that can detect his opponent’s movements. He can utilize fire, water, wind, earth, yin, and yang release.
Jiraiya can also use Sage mode, but he did not completely master this method, thus whenever he enters sage mode, he has a toad-like appearance.
Jiraiya was an exceptionally powerful shinobi, hailed as one of the greatest ninjas of his generation and that Konoha ever produced.
The ability to absorb nature’s power and infuse it with your own chakra. It helps to boost the user’s skills and abilities.
It allows the user to transport a target to their location. Jiraiya can summon Gamabunta.
This move was created by Minato. It is a spinning ball of chakra which is formed and held in the user’s hand.
After training for a long time on Mount Myoboku, Jiraiya gained some attributes of toads. He used these for techniques such as spitting oil from his mouth, hiding within the target’s shadow, summoning a toad’s esophagus and restricting the movement of anyone inside it.
