Hagoromo Otsutsuki aka the Sage of Six Paths was a legendary god-like shinobi. He was the first jinchuriki for the ten-tails. Hagoromo Otsutsuki was the son of princess Kaguya, and he had a twin brother named Hamura. Since his mother had divine abilities, Hagoromo was also born with the same abilities as his mother to manipulate powerful chakra. Kaguya was angry that her chakra was spread to others, she merged with the God tree and thus turned into the Ten-tails.

The Ten-tails were rampaging their area, so Hagoromo and his brother Hamura fought it. After defeating it, Hagoromo became its jinchuriki, which gave him the title of 'God.' After researching the technique used by his mother, he was able to free the world from infinite Tsukuyomi.

He was named the Sage of Six Paths when he became a priest and he traveled around the world giving chakra to everyone, also spreading his ideals and religion. He was also known as the 'Saviour of the World' due to his good deeds and desire to stop the war.

Hagoromo's wish was to bring ultimate peace throughout the world, but he knew this goal could be completed during his lifetime so he entrusted his dream to his sons Indra and Asura. While teaching his sons Hagoromo noticed that the elder one, Indra was a prodigy who could quickly grasp anything and had natural talent.

The younger one, Asura, on the other hand, was the exact opposite, as he possessed no special abilities or natural talent, but he pushed himself beyond limits and became stronger, mature and made a lot of comrades. Hagoromo supported his younger son in the path he had chosen, agreeing to the fact that love and cooperation were important elements of peace.

Hagoromo was inspired by his younger son and decided to separate his ten-tails chakra from his body and divide it into nine separate bodies, thus creating the tailed beasts. Due to extracting the ten tails all at once, Hagoromo became very weak and relied on the chakra left in the husk of the ten tails.

While nearing the end of his life, Hagoromo decided to choose his successor. To the villager's surprise, he chose Asura instead of Indra as his successor. Indra was filled with anger and hatred as he felt that he was more deserving of the position and in a fit of rage attacked his father and brother. Hagoromo and the rest of the village transferred their chakras to Asura to battle his brother, after which Indra decided to flee.

When he was on his deathbed, Indra visited him after many years of his disappearance and said that he was going to take down his ideas and everything he worked for. After Indra left, Hagoromo called Asura and told him why he was chosen as the successor and also entrusted him with his final wish of bringing peace to the world.

Hagoromo had powerful and large chakra reserves. He was the first person to be born with it and understand its nature. Without training, he had precise chakra control and did not need the help of hand seals.

He could transfer chakra to others and after he became a Jinchuriki, his chakra reserves grew more. He had good amounts of raw strength, exceptional in hand-to-hand combat.

His wisdom combined with kekkei mora allowed him to create Anshu. He invented this to bring peace to this world filled with war. He taught people how to connect their spiritual energies and come together.

Hagoromo was the first person to master all five nature transformations.

Sharingan: Hagoromo awakened his Sharingan when he saw his lover’s dead body. After that he gained great perceptive powers, seeing through his enemy’s tactics, etc.

Mangekyo Sharingan: In order to stop his brainwashed brother's attack, Hagoromo had to severely injure him which led to his awakening of his Mangekyo Sharingan. He quickly mastered it and could use Susanoo in its complete form.

Rinnegan: Hagoromo rinnegan awakened simultaneously with his Mangekyo Sharingan. He was the only person to have mastered the Rinnegan and control all five types of chakra natures. It granted him to use of the six paths technique.

Sage mode: Having inherited his mother's immense chakra reserves, Hagoromo was quite adjusted while learning sage mode to enhance his abilities. Along with his powerful chakra and Finnegan, he developed a Six Paths Senjutsu too.
