The life of Yome

Yome used to play with Sen and Temari when she was a child. While they were in the Academy, Yome and Sen saw from afar how Shira was being mistreated and mocked by her classmates. Despite being banned from the Academy as he didn't have any ninjutsu or genjutsu skills, Shira continued to train himself in taijutsu. Sen and Yome came to admire him for his dedication and were happy when Gaara, the Fifth Kazekage, removed his ban and let him re-enter the Academy.

Yome and the team took part in the joint Chunin exams that were held by Konoha and Suna. For the first part of the exam, they were split up and put into three different rooms. After settling in, Shikamaru (who was the exam proctor) announced the goal of the written exam. Her team passed the first round as their combined test score was 100 points and they left the bonus question unanswered. A preliminary round had to be kept so that the number of participants could be reduced. The preliminary round consisted of a race to Suna, where only the first 30 teams to arrive at the destination were allowed to qualify for the second round.

Yome's team was among the first 30 teams to reach Suna. Temari, the next proctor, then announced that the second round of the examinations was going to take place in the Demon desert. According to Shira's plan, Yome started using her optical ability to scan the area and warn all the Suna ninjas to avoid enemy teams to make sure that all Suna ninjas pass the second round. Yome’s team engaged in a fight against Team Guy. After successfully executing a trap on the Konoha ninjas, the team returned to the other Suna ninjas to decide what their next attack plan should be. Despite their noble intentions, Yome’s team got betrayed by the other Suna ninjas, Yome managed to evade her enemy’s attack but she was then blinded by a flash bomb. As Yome’s team was cornered, they were saved in the nick of time by Team Guy and forced the other Suna ninjas to retreat. As Yome recovered from the flash bomb, she tended to Shira's wounds and Team Guy explained that they simply felt the need to save them after their allies betrayed them.

As Team Guy gets to know why the Suna ninjas betrayed them, Lee went after them angrily to make them repent for what they did. After Lee's Team caught up with him and saved him from the other Konoha ninjas, Shira asked them to leave and go fight the other enemies. After Team Guy agreed, Shira offered his scroll to one of the Suna Ninja teams that defeated them earlier. As Shira's words inspired them, they refused to take his scroll and instead gave them their respective team scrolls back as they had lost the battle. After the Suna ninjas left, Lee challenged Shira who happily agreed. Yome and the others watched alongside the others until Shira ultimately lost the battle. Shira then tells everyone that after the Chunin exams he intends to join the special forces on the northern outskirts of the Land of Wind to be with his sick parents. When Sen asks Yome if she'll be going with Shira, she blushes and tries to avoid the question.

As the exam was nearing its end and her team had yet to find the matching scroll, Yome's team accepted defeat and was happy that they could make it this far. They were then approached by Matsuri, a former student, who said that she wished to battle Shira with no desire to take their scroll. He gladly accepted her request and won the battle. Yome and her team went to the main building to hear the results of the second exam. Ultimately the chunin exams ended early, due to the controversies that were happening in the second round. It was then decided by Gaara that each team would be sent back to their village and their respective Kages would decide if they were worthy to be promoted. Shira went through with his original plan and enlisted himself in the special forces and Yome also joined it as well. As they were saying their goodbyes to Sen, who decided to stay back in the village, he teases Yome about her feelings for Shira.

Yome’s Appearance

Yome has brown hair which is tied in two ponytails. She wears her village’s forehead protector. She has orange eyes with black pupils, with a little blush on both sides of her cheeks. She wears sleeveless mesh armor with gray elbow protectors, with light blue shorts and purple leg warmers with black sandals.

The abilities of Yome

Yome has excellent eyesight. When her pupils dilate, it allows her to track down her enemy’s movements from the reflection of water droplets. Once she has set her sight on something, she can see it for several kilometers. When the water droplets evaporate in the sun, Yome can't use her technique for a limited time. During fights, she can use it in conjunction with her flexibility and evasive skills. She is quite vulnerable to blinding light and this is a downside of her ability.
