Yurika's past is shrouded in a great deal of mystery as her clan and her background are all still unknown to us. She only made a few fleeting cameos in the manga or its anime adaptation. She made her anime debut in Naruto Shippuden's episode 8, "Team Kakashi, Deployed" as a member of the Hidden Leaf Cryptanalysis Team.

She first appeared in the Kazekage Rescue Mission Arc in Naruto Shippuden. She got a communication from the Hidden Sand Village via Natori in which she revealed that Gaara, the Fifth Kazekage of the Hidden Sand Village, had been kidnaped by members of the Akatsuki. In the anime, she handed the message to Lady Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, but in the manga, she revealed the contents of the message herself.

After this incident, Yurika has not returned and thus it's hard to tell whether she's dead or alive because she has not made an appearance yet in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. We currently believe Yurika to be well and alive, unless any new information comes to light to the contrary.

Yurika was a student at the Hidden Leaf Ninja Academy before she became a member of the Hidden Leaf Cryptanalysis Team. Despite this, she only had a fleeting appearance in the series, and thus there has never been any proof that she can wield any jutsu or has any special skills. The extent of her skill set is unknown due to a lack of knowledge.

Despite this, it can be deduced based on her limited appearance that she is a skilled and reliable kunoichi of the Hidden Leaf Village as she has to handle and decode important communications received by the Hidden Leaf Aviary. According to reports, Yurika is the finest decoder in the entire Hidden Leaf Village and is very accomplished in her respective field.
