The Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness could possibly be based on San Gorgonio Wilderness in Southern California or the Los Padres National Forest. This location is used by the residents of San Andreas as a destination for hiking, camping, and exploring.
The area is also home to a number of interesting landmarks, such as the mysterious Mount Chiliad, an enormous mountain that is said to be the tallest in the game.
