Raton Canyon is a canyon in GTA V. It is located in the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness in Blaine County.
Name | Raton Canyon |
Location | Blaine County, San Andreas |
Appearance(s) | GTA V |
Raton Canyon is based on an amalgamation of Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park and Bixby Creek in Big Sur, California. Raton Canyon divides Mount Josiah and Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness. Cassidy Creek, which is one of the outlets of the Alamo Sea into the Pacific Ocean and also creates several waterfalls, runs through Raton Canyon.
Three bridges cross over the creek including the Cassidy Creek bridge which is connected to the main highway in the western part. The Raton Pass also goes through the canyon. It is a very beautiful place and is also a very good location for parachuting.
There are no storyline missions that take place here in GTA 5. However, one of the 50 Spaceship parts can be found in Raton Canyon.

"Ratón" means mouse in Spanish.
The picture of Raton Canyon in the digital manual erroneously shows Lago Zancudo.
Its name is likely a reference to American beat author Jack Kerouac's novel Big Sur, in which the narrator spends time alone in the fictional "Raton Canyon." Interestingly, the novel shares its name with the city in which Bixby Creek is located, which is the real-life counterpart of Raton Canyon.
