Akane’s background is shrouded in mystery as she had a very limited appearance in the series. Very little is known about her because she only made a few fleeting appearances in the anime or the movie and did not contribute much to the story. According to the information available, Akane is a kunoichi of the Hidden Leaf Village. In the series, after the Fourth Great Ninja War, Akane, like many others, idolized Naruto Uzumaki, the protagonist of the Naruto series, as he was the hero who ended the war and brought peace to the shinobi world.
Akane made her first appearance in Naruto Shippuden episode 479, titled ‘Naruto Uzumaki!!’ In the episode, after the war had ended, Naruto and the others returned to the Hidden Leaf Village, and soon after, Kakashi Hatake was appointed as the Sixth Hokage of Konoha. At the Sixth Hokage’s inauguration ceremony, Akane, along with her friends, was present at the gate of Konoha shouting and demanding to see Naruto.
In the movie, Akane gave Naruto a present, like many others at the beginning of the movie. Later, Akane and her companion Kaede visited Naruto at Ichiraku Ramen while Naruto was celebrating with his friends. Naruto thanked them for the presents and asked the young kunoichi and her friends to order whatever they wanted and consider it his treat. They then asked Naruto to sit with them.
These are the only instances Akane ever appeared in the Naruto series so far. Based on this minimal appearance, Akane is believed to be alive and well until any additional piece of information comes to light suggesting otherwise.
Akane is a young kunoichi of Konoha. Based on the limited information available, Akane idolizes and is deeply infatuated with Naruto Uzumaki and was often seen trying to get close to Naruto. However, as witnessed by her actions, Akane’s affection for Naruto is just because he is the hero who ended the Fourth Great Ninja War and brought peace to the brutal shinobi world. Considering this, her feelings for Naruto are somewhat in vain.
Additionally, it appears that even though she is a full-fledged kunoichi of Konoha, she does not focus much on her training and would rather flirt with Naruto than focus on her training or her missions.
Although Akane is a full-fledged kunoichi and did indeed graduate from the Hidden Leaf Ninja Academy, as denoted by her Konoha headband, she did not use any of her abilities in her brief appearance. As she did graduate from the academy, she surely possesses the required skills for the life of a shinobi but her abilities are unknown.
Apart from the anime and the movie, Akane also appears in the light novel based on the movie with the same title, “The Last: Naruto the Movie.”
