Hinoto is a former member of Konohagakure's Anbu faction Root. She was a part of the Hiruzen assassination mission. She was quite loyal to Hanzo just like the other member of Root.

Hinoto accompanied Danzo to a meeting with Orochimaru. With nine Root members, she received a mission to assassinate Hiruzen Sarutobi. When she fought his target, it turned out to be a disguised Kakashi.
When they were guarding the entrance and Yugoa and Kakashi showed up at the gates of Anbu asking about Danzo, Hinoto said that she was not aware of his whereabouts. Later on Kakashi subdued her and took the information from her.
Hinoto has long smooth black-blue hair which she keeps in a ponytail. She wears the standard Anbu uniform and has a sword strapped to her shoulder with a cat-like mask with purple markings. She wears red pearl earrings.
She is very talented being the part of the Anbu. She is quite skilled with the sword and bo she carries.
Hinoto not only appeared in the series but also a video game.
