Founding and History of the Hyuga Clan

Hyuga clan’s lineage goes back to Ancestral Times. Members of Hyuga Clan are descendants of Hamura Otsutsuki, son of Kaguya Otsutuski. Hugya clan members share distant relations with the Uchiha Clan, Senju Clan and Uzumaki Clan. They are one of the strongest clans of the Hidden Leaf Village and their prowess are feared across the Five Great Nations.

The Hyuga Clan was divided into two parts, The Head Family and The Branch Family. This concept was introduced in the Hyuga clan to protect the clan’s secrets and Byakugan from outsiders. The Head Family is in charge of running the family and the Branch Family serves to protect the Head Family

The members of the Branch Family are branded with a seal on their heads. This seal gives the Head Family absolute control over Branch Family as they can cause extreme pain or destroy their brain switch simple hand signs. This seal also keeps the secrets of the family safe. In the event of the death of the seal wearer, it seals off the wearer’s Byakugan. There was a lot of bad blood and a hostile environment between the head and the branch family as the branch family was essentially treated like servants by the head family.

In the events of Hyuga Affairs, the Head Ninja of the Village Hidden by the Clouds was sent to Hidden Leaf with a convoy to sign a peace treaty between the two villages to end the war. Later, the Head Ninja tried to abduct Hinata Hyuga, daughter of Hiashi Hyuga, to acquire the Byakugan. He got caught by Hiashi and was killed by his hands. Hidden Cloud accused the Hidden Leaf and demanded Hiashi’s corpse as retribution.

Hizashi Hyuga, a member of the branch family and Hiashi Hyuga’s twin brother, sacrificed his life for the sake of the clan and the village. His corpse was sent to the Hidden Cloud Village, with his Byakugan sealed at the event of his death. This sacrifice kept the Byakugan safe from outsiders and avoided war.
