He is also the Academy teacher in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Shino played an essential role in the Sasuke rescue mission and was also one of the important characters in the Fourth Shinobi World War.
He is one of the main characters in the Naruto anime series and manga that was written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. Shino is also one of the supporting characters in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, a Japanese manga series that is written by Ukyo Kodachi and Masashi Kishimoto and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto.

Shino Aburame was born in the Aburame family and raised with his adopted brother Torume Aburame and father, Shibi Aburame. Shino was close to Torume as both of them were fond of Insects, and growing up together made them close. It was then that Torume revealed his microscopic insect and why he always covered up with gloves.
Later Torume was chosen to be a Root Anbu ninja by Danzo Shimaru, who came to recruit someone from the Aburame clan for his team. However, as Torume didn’t want Shino to live without the family, he told Danzo about his father, who was one of the greatest Aburame clan members, Shikuro Aburame.
After knowing this fact, Danzo selected Torume as his Root ninja. To be close to Torume, Shino collected some of Torune's insects and spent years perfecting his method of breeding insects to create new beetles with some traits of Torune's creatures.
After being accepted into the Academy and assigned to Iruka Umino's class, he met Kiba Inuzuka, with whom he frequently lost patience because the two had such diametrically opposed personalities. He would let his bugs walk on his desk while there was a break in the classes. Shino was not happy to see the laziness of Shikamaru and said that he would not be able to become a Genin with this attitude.
Shino joined Team 8 alongside Hinata Hyuga and Kiba Inuzuka and was led by Kurenai. After completing several missions, Team 8 captain Kurenai allowed them to enter the Chunin exam. In the first stage, he used his insect to cheat, and in the second stage, his team easily took another team's scroll thanks to his knowledge of insects; when leeches attacked another team (from the Amegakure in the anime, from the Konohagakure in the manga), they were caught in a net trap.
Shino and Hinata objected to Kiba's desire to get another scroll, but they continued. He and his teammates soon noticed the Three Sand Siblings battling some Ame-nin as they hid out of sight. They watched as Gaara killed the Ame-nin leader and, despite the others surrendering, killed his comrades as well. Gaara seemed aware of Team 8’s presence but his siblings convinced him to continue. Later, when Shino’s team arrived at the tower and they observed the Sand Siblings passing by, emitting a chill.
Zaku Abumi was Shino's opponent in the Chunin Exams' preliminary round. Shino advised Zaku to quit the fight because he was using a sling on one of his arms. When Shino refused, Zaku used his one healthy arm to assault him. However, when Zaku attacked him, Shino had the chance to box him in with bugs, forcing Zaku to decide between attacking him or the bugs while the other attacked Zaku from behind. Zaku took his other arm from its sling and decided to assault both.
Zaku's arms exploded as he was about to blast the two opposing forces, rendering them useless and inflicting him with horrific pain (in the manga, his right arm was blown off his body). As Zaku writhed, Shino revealed that his bugs had been placed inside the tubes in Zaku's arms which forced the pressure of his attack to turn inward when it could not leave.
The duel between Shino and Kankuro was set to take place in the final rounds, but Kankuro withdrew before it could start to keep his puppet Karasu's secrets a secret. The Konoha Crush then began shortly after.
Shino followed Kankuro as he left the town after reportedly managing to end the genjutsu that caused everyone in the stadium to fall asleep and want the fight he had been denied. Sasuke was about to engage Kankuro in combat when Shino caught up with him. This allowed Sasuke to keep following Gaara while they engaged in combat. Kankuro assaulted Shino with his puppet from a distance, but he managed to evade him by using his bugs.
Shino was, however, unprepared for a chemical attack and he accidentally breathed in some of the gas but dodged the worst of it. He then utilized his bugs to attack Kankuro's puppet's chakra strings as the fight went on which forced Kankuro to surrender and regain control of his lone weapon. Shino kept his bugs on the lookout for a female insect that had been hidden on Kankuro's forehead protector, and when they found it, they ate chakra from Kankuro.
Shino eventually lost consciousness due to the poisonous gas affecting his system, as did Kankuro because the female insect was draining his strength. When Shino regained consciousness, he discovered his father, Shibi Aburame, kneeling over him and extracting the poison from Shino's body with his bugs. He subsequently appears during the Third Hokage's funeral, grieving with others from the village.
Later, Shino helped Naruto in a mission to find the Bikochu beetle in the hope that it may be used to locate Sasuke because the Bikochu beetle has a great ability to track the chakra.
Akamaru, who had developed an illness secretly from the rest of the squad, is suddenly attacked by Shino's bugs. When Shino tried to order the insects to stop, they ignored him, so he had to use force to stop them. Shino was confused about why his insects had attacked Akamaru after Kiba had left.
Shino was assigned to join Naruto on another mission to Motoyoshi Village, where he had to act in the place of a guy named Futa. The purpose was to remain silent at a funeral. Otherwise, Futa would forfeit his inheritance and thus, the always serious Shino was dispatched as the ideal tool for the job. Shino was forced to miss the funeral because of sabotage (being poisoned with a poison that makes one fake laugh), so Naruto went in Shino's stead.
Konoha decided to co-host an early Chunin Exam with Sunagakure nearly 2 years after Naruto left the town to train with Jiraiya. When Shino and his teammates arrived at the testing location, they were randomly divided into various rooms to take the written exam. He was put with Ino and Lee in room 2.
Everyone needs to respond to one question on the exam, but their team's total score needs to be exactly 100 points to pass, the proctor (Shikamaru) said on a monitor. Shino saw that one of the participants, Fu, had a chakra essence resembling that of a bug-user but gave no indications of being one as he silently sent one of his insects to scan the room quietly.
Shino realized that someone was trying to convey a message about which question to choose after hearing vibrations through the wall. Shikamaru posed a bonus question after the allotted time had passed; the response needed to be agreed upon to be revealed. But the chosen person would be eliminated.
He and his squad chose not to respond, and as a result, their team won the first round. The fact that there were more participants than anticipated required a preliminary round, which included a race to Sunagakure, where only the first 30 teams to arrive at the destination would qualify for the second phase.
Team Kurenai carried out Kiba's straightforward strategy and started shouting loudly for everyone to hear as they waited for someone carrying a Heaven scroll to pursue them. In the end, the Kusa-nin team pursued them. The two mutual ninjas stared each other down as Shino and Muyami engaged in combat.
The enemy successfully took the Earth scroll from Kiba and fled with it as Shino started dodging Muyami's underground assaults. Shino placed one of his female insects on the enemy to the trail while evading Hinata's sight and obstructing Kiba's smell.
Shino and his companions were sucked into a quicksand pit following the adversary. However, Akamaru was able to utilize his Dynamic Marking to make the sand sufficiently firm so that the squad could flee. Team Kurenai resumed their pursuit of the adversary after regrouping. Following the scent, Kiba and Akamaru quickly discovered that it had increased and was dispersed everywhere.
When Shino's bugs could not locate the opponents themselves and advised seeking out additional enemy scrolls, Kiba, finding himself thinking more about Naruto to his irritation, became motivated to succeed. He used Burami's scent to identify the genuine enemy after realizing it was coming from his clothes from their earlier fight.
The enemies attacked Team Kurenai as they were once more on the trail. The squad was originally overpowered, but they could escape the situation by using Shino's insect clones, giving them time to regroup. Team Kurenai rapidly applied pressure to the Kuso-nin after spotting the enemy's strategy.
Kiba then used his Three-Headed Wolf move to finish them off, earning Team Kurenai a Heaven and Earth scroll. Later, a severe sandstorm engulfed Team Kurenai. The Suna-nin proctors ultimately saved the team, who took them to a building where they could wait out the storm before continuing the examinations.
It was then discovered that the Chunin Exams were called off early because of a dispute in the second exam after the storm had passed and the second exam was finished. Gaara instead let each participant's village leader decide whether or not to promote them after receiving a report on their performance. When Shino and his squad reached the village, they were all given the title of chunin.
After finishing his 2.5 years of training. Naruto returned to the village. After Naruto's quest to save Gaara, he searches for assistance for another mission to find Sasuke. He ran across Shino, whom he initially mistook for someone else, remembering him solely for his "annoying style of talking" since Shino does not seem to be aware that his attire makes it difficult for others to recognize him who have not seen him in a while.
However, when Kiba and Hinata were recognized by Naruto right away, Shino began to pout and turn his back on him, seemingly upset that Naruto didn't recognize him. As their team had already agreed to a mission, neither Shino nor his teammates could assist Naruto.
Team 8 was dispatched to look into one of Orochimaru's hiding places under Kakashi's instruction. When they got there, it had been destroyed, and they looked around for hints. They sent a sample to Konoha for analysis after discovering other persons who had suffered the same fate as some of Shino's bugs.
Shino bred his bugs to produce more of them after learning that some of them were crystal-resistant while he waited. He had to leave the group to accomplish it.
Shino later met up with his squad just in time to assist them in avoiding a trap. He found that his bugs' immunity to the crystal had not yet fully developed, even though the enemies had retreated. Guren, the crystal's source, soon caught them in a trap, and Hinata was taken prisoner and covered in crystal.
She explained that she had encased herself in chakra to survive the crystallizing process when help arrived and saved her. He had been unable to selectively breed an immunity since Shino's bugs had done the same. The Three-Tails' presence diverted the crew from Guren's pursuit.
Shino was one of the members of the Eight men squad, which Kakashi Hatake led in pursuit to hunt down Itachi Uchiha. Shino took control of the combat when the Eight Man Squad ran across Tobi to make up for not being available to get Sasuke the first time. He traps Tobi in his bugs but he manages to break free and reach Sasuke before them.
Shino and his teammates were shocked as they witnessed the initial assault and the destruction that Pain caused when he attacked the village. Later on, Shino decided to part ways with them to meet his father and other clan members. Along with Muta, his father, and another unknown clan member, he faces Konan.
They consume the paper Konan had used to swaddle some shinobi while Katsuyu treated them using their kikaichu. Shino then declares to his father that he would sacrifice everything to defeat the enemy. The Aburame is seen surprising her with an overhead attack, but it turns out that this is merely a clone.
As they turn to face the sky, they notice Konan clones coming toward them and surrounding them. To their surprise, the clones burst when Shino and his clansmen send their bugs to kill them. They later discovered that the clones had been equipped with explosive tags. Konan, who had soaked herself in water to combat the effects of fire and blended in with the clones, can be seen walking out of the flames as they narrowly avoided the explosion.
The four Aburame have been seen in the anime later, after Deva Path destroys the settlement, emerging from under the debris. Later, he returned to the village to join the other residents in toasting Naruto's triumph over Pain.
Shino joined Konoha 11 team, which was formed to kill Sasuke after he was announced as a criminal. To help Naruto, Shino agrees to join a team with other Konoha ninjas, who are Naruto's friends. Later, In the fight against Kabuto's reborn ninja, Shino was one of the Konoha-nin that arrived as a backup for Team Kakashi.
Shino and the other people hid when Naruto's clone grew to an enormous size. He engaged Kabuto's puppets once more in combat before he and the other Konoha-nin left the situation to go back to their village.
Shino was placed in Division 5 and he encouraged his squad not to call attention to themselves, and Ino assured him it wouldn't be hard to do so. Shino attacked them with his Secret Technique: Insect Sphere after Kitsuchi and Kurotsuchi smashed the White Zetsu Army. Shino claims that the White Zetsu Army is not only powerful but also resistant, and if this trend continues, the battle will turn into a turnover war.
After the first day of combat, Shino, Kiba, Akamaru, Hinata, and Neji are all still visible as being alive. Later, Shino warns Hinata not to overexert herself because he had his bugs dispersed over the region while Neji rested, and Hinata assumed Neji's role as a lookout.
Team 8 was sent to a cave that was a weakness in the allies' defenses when the White Zetsu Army entered the Allied Shinobi Forces and started killing each member. When Team 8 came to the White Zetsu duplicates, there had been an explosion, and everyone had escaped. After the explosion, Shino discovered that one member of the accompanying Sealing Team had been stabbed with a kunai. Shino, who avoided physical contact during the battle, was the only one who could not be misrepresented by the White Zetsu, who was able to absorb the chakra of their opponents.
Shino discovered how to identify the imposter using a game of rock-paper-scissors while Team 8 mistrusted one another as the imposter. Shino and Kiba tracked down and defeated the White Zetsu clone imitating Hinata (after learning the signals during that game). Later, they found Hinata laying still. Shino discovered once they were outside the cave that the Zetsu clones had already gathered personal information on each member of the Allied Shinobi thanks to Yamato, which indicated that they already knew of Hinata's love for Naruto.
The Sound Four were also called to the field later that morning. Neji, Shikamaru, Choji, and Kiba beat the Otogakure ninja, but the Sound Four were able to use an unusual technique on the Konoha ninja. Along with Kiba and Akamaru, Neji was spotted by Shino with a weak pulse, and both of their bodies were checked by Hinata.
Shino guessed they were thrown into a condition of suspended animation and won't last for very long after Hinata noticed that their chakra flow had stopped. Even though it was not a characteristic of his insects, Shino used his insects to channel his chakra into his buddies out of a commitment never again to be left behind.
Inoichi suggests via telepathic communication that the technique transfers the victim's soul to a different place. He also describes how this technique can be canceled by channeling chakra into it, much like genjutsu. Even Inoichi, who has access to specialized improvement tools, cannot identify or interact with them due to a seal on them.
Later, Shino receives word through his insects that a second Aburame has appeared on the battlefield and appears to be a different reborn shinobi. Shino is astonished to learn that it is Torune, when he finds him, who has been reanimated to forcefully complete his most banned technique. Once completed, it would poison a significant number of the Allied Shinobi and Torune reveals that he is almost finished.
He urged Shino to seek assistance, but Shino was adamant that only he could stop his old friend. As they engage in combat, the two catch up on each other's lives, with Torune truly pleased with how Shino turned out. Then a Naruto clone shows up to offer help.
Shino comes in to take the punch as Torune almost hits clone Naruto with his poisonous punch, indicating that his newest insects are able to ward against Torune's poisons. Shino uses them to restrain Torune before finally marking him with a sealing tag. Shino expresses gratitude to Torune for all of his assistance before joining the clone Naruto to assist their allies.
Shino, Kiba, Akamaru, and Neji all move toward Hinata's direction after learning of her situation. Later, he joins forces with Naruto and the others to finish off the remaining enemy soldiers.
Shino and the other members of the Konoha 11 rush to help Naruto and B after learning from Inoichi at HQ that they are engaged in combat with the "masked Madara." He declares as he takes off that, this time, there was no reason not to use his strength to support Naruto, and he would do so flawlessly. Shino and a few other Aburame quickly cover themselves on the battlefield using the Kiri-nins' Hiding in Mist Technique and the Insect Jamming Technique after arrival. Later, he and the other members of the Allied Shinobi Forces took a stand in front of the enemy.
Shino and the others prepared themselves as the Ten-Tails emerged from the hole it had been imprisoned in following the failed attempt to freeze it. Later, he watched as Shikaku Nara gave the Alliance what would be his last combat plan. Not only that, after learning of Neji's passing, Shino was stunned.
Later, after Sasuke Uchiha arrived on the battlefield to confront his former buddy, he would rally to the area where Naruto and Sakura were. Shino, who was completely taken aback by the Uchiha's announcement that he would succeed as Hokage, raised the concern that his sins would not be quickly forgotten or forgiven.
After seeing Team 7's performance, he joined the fight and, using the Parasitic Giant Insect Bug Bite method, defeated several of the Ten-Tails' mini-clones. He then stood aside and softly wished Naruto and Sasuke luck as they battled the Ten-Tails.
Shino and the other shinobi soon discovered themselves surrounded by Version 1 mantles, with the situation looking grave as the Alliance was trapped in a barrier with a Tailed Beast Ball-firing tree. He and the others then found themselves beyond the barrier, having been saved from the almost fatal attack by Naruto and Minato.
Shino noticed that it appeared as though they had been teleported as he stood alongside his teammates. Akamaru appeared concerned by Kiba's announced intention to have Shikamaru become his adviser if he takes the role of the next Hokage. Still, Shino assured him that it was okay because the Hokage may have up to three advisers when Shikamaru recovered.
With the help of Naruto's power, Shino and other ninjas in Naruto's chakra used Rasengan to attack Obito. Later, they were able to extract the ten tails from Obito.
Tobi met Shino and the rest after Madara was brought back to life. Unhappy, Shino glanced into the moon, seeing Akamaru's panicked state as the duel ended abruptly, and asked Kiba a question. Shino and the others suffered genjutsu attacks when the Infinite Tsukuyomi was turned on. Shino dreamed he had discovered a new species of enormous bug that he could control inside the genjutsu. Later, when Naruto and Sasuke defeated Kaguya Otsutsuki, all shinobi world got freed from the Genjutsu.
When they try to think of a great wedding present for their teammate Hinata, Shino and Kiba realize they are at a loss. When they visit Kurenai because they need her guidance, Shino is shocked to learn that the young Mirai Sarutobi refers to him as "Uncle Buggy," which makes Shino rethinks his character. Even though Naruto and Hinata are non-drinkers, Kurenai suggests the two buy the couple some honey from Sora-Ku.
When Tamaki arrives in Sora-Ku, Shino is surprised to see Kiba in a love-struck coma as he watches Kiba and Akamaru fight with a Ninneko named Momo. Shino consoles the upset Akamaru, who is shocked by Kiba's obvious passionate shared emotions for Tamaki as she offers to lead them to the mysterious Beekeeper's home in the Bamboo Forest.
Later they found and got the special Honey as a present for Hinata and Naruto for their wedding. Still, when they were taking honey from the Bee Keeper, he suggested Shino pursue a career in teaching, and after the thought, Shino decided to be the teacher.
Shino became an academy teacher of Konoha and the classroom teacher of many friends' children like Shikadai Nara, Boruto Uzumaki, Metal Lee, and Inojin Yamanaka. During the entry ceremony, Shino and the other instructors watched in awe as Boruto Uzumaki smashed a train into the Hokage Rock. After Boruto's suspension ended two weeks later, Shino put him through a series of practice exercises to help him catch up with the other students. As a result, Boruto finished second in the class.
As time passed, Shino kept helping all the children and making them work hard to be great people and ninjas for Konoha. Still, Shino is working as an Academy teacher after all the Chaos of Kawaki and Momoshiki Otsutsuki incidents.
Shino, in childhood, was an introvert who did not make many friends and spent most of his time with his adopted brother Torune. Still, after Torune went and Shino joined the Konoha academy, he stayed alone while playing with his bugs and insects. But from a young age, Shino only believed in facts and hard work. It’s because of that, he even thought that Shikamaru would not even be a Genin because he was lazy.
Shino also holds grudges against people who hurt him, like Kankuro. He also gets emotional if his friends do not recognize him which is shown when Naruto was not able to recognize him after he returned to Konoha following his training spell with Jiraya.
Shino is also extremely brave since even though he and his friends were horrified when they first saw Gaara's abilities during the second stage of the Chunin Exams, he still made the decision to assist Sasuke in his fight against Gaara in any way he could. He lamented not being able to assist in getting Sasuke back due to his lack of availability.
He made a decision then and there to practice teamwork with Kiba and Hinata. Shino prefers to let an opponent know he is winning a battle since he is reasonably confident in his skills and abilities and will win. However, Shino enjoys fighting and despises being denied the chance to face a talented opponent, as evidenced by the extra effort he made to fight Kankuro during the Konoha Crush after the latter had forfeited to keep his puppets' secrets a secret.
Shino, as a teacher in Boruto: The Next Generation, feels depressed when the students do not follow his instruction and do not listen to him. It makes him angry too many times, but still, as a teacher, he keeps his calm and composure.
Shino wore the same olive color cloak throughout Naruto and Naruto Shippuden with just the size of the cloak changing. As an Aburame clan member, Shino constantly keeps his eyes covered by others, as even his teammate does not know what his eyes truly look like. He wears a flak jacket under his hooded one during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
Shino is dressed in his typical shinobi garb, a flak jacket, and a new pair of sunglasses two years after the Fourth Great Shinobi War. He's wearing a light-grey button-up jacket over a grey shirt and matching jeans. He wears the hood of the jacket over his head as well. He also switches to a bandanna-style forehead guard.
He dresses in a full-body suit underneath a flak jacket with two bug-like badges on the neck when he is an adult. He wears a three-strip optic visor that wraps over his head while on the job and sunglasses when he is not.
Shino has been confident in his skills and power. In Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden. Shino showed how reliable he was and won almost every battle he fought against any opponent. As a member of the Aburame clan, Shino also has special insect skills.
He was born with a unique species of insects called kikaichu, which use his body as a nest and feed on his chakra in a symbiotic relationship. He uses his bugs to box in opponents during battle, consuming their chakra after they cannot escape. In return, they attack and carry out other jobs as he directed. Shino can channel this collected chakra into a new target in the anime.
Shino can also use his bugs as a substitution jutsu and can defend by creating a bug wall around him. Shino’s bugs can also track a person and also consume their chakra from the enemy flesh. Shino could use the Insect Jamming Technique to create false chakra patterns, confusing sensor-type opponents. He is also great with Taijutsu and showed his skills when he fought a Jonin despite him being a Genin.
Shino is a great battle analyst as he first tries to know the jutsu and techniques of his opponent, and then, with caution, he attacks them.
There is a list of Jutsu that Shino can use:
Insect Jamming Technique
Secret Technique: Insects sphere
Insect clone Technique
Parasitic Giant Insect: Bug bite
Insect cocoon, etc.
Shino originally appears alongside his buddies engaged in combat with multiple Zetsu replicas posing as late Akatsuki members. Later, a different Shino showed up in the parallel reality. Unlike the Shino that Naruto and Sakura are familiar with, this Shino is a major fan of plants and despises bugs, trying to kill as many as possible. His gloomy, recognizable personality, though, is still there. Shino played a role in Naruto Shippuden Movie: The Will of Fire and also played a role in Naruto Shippuden Bonds movie.

Shinichiro Ueda plays as Shino in this stage play adaption.
Shino always gives names to his Insects.
Moss green is Shino's preferred color, and the chameleon flower is his preferred flower.
A. Shino and others might possibly possess physical characteristics shared with insects which makes their eyes and bodies more sensitive to strong sunlight.
A. Nope, Shino probably does not have Jonin rank on his sleeve but his skills are like Jonin rank Shinobi.
A. Shino is from the Aburame clan, which is one of the four major clans of Konohagakure.
