Tazuna in Naruto

Tazuna wanted to build a bridge that would connect the Land of Waves to the mainland. He believed that this would help restore its economic stability, which was against Gato's interest. He knew that Gato would try to kill him and he couldn't afford a proper connection. This was the reason why he had hired Team 7 under a false pretense of him needing protection from bandits, which resulted in it being put under the category of a C-rank mission. Unlike most of his fellow citizens, Tazuna was brave enough to defy Gato's interest even though he was aware of the consequences it would bring. In honor of Naruto’s courage, he named the bridge the 'Great Naruto Bridge' after its completion.

Tazuna and Inari were asked by Konoha to help rebuild the village after Pain destroyed the town. They had a brief conversation with Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi.

Tazuna is a diligent man who can also be harsh. He likes to drink. Tazuna was capable of deceiving and also guilt-tripping the ninjas into carrying out his mission. Even though he was aware how terrifying Gato was, he was willing to build a bridge that would free his village from his influence. He was moved when his grandson also came to defy Gato.

Tazuna is a gray-haired, bespectacled man with a beard and dark eyes. When he was first introduced in the series he wore a sleeveless V neck shirt with an obi, pants and a pair of sandals. He also carried a towel around his neck and wore a pointed hat.
