Summary of the Episode

Konoha Cryptology Team is looking for a pattern to decipher Master Jiraiya’s encrypted message. Shikamaru believed that Master Jiraiya must have written the message with specifically Naruto in his mind and was trying to figure out a link between them. While looking at the message, Naruto points out that the number ‘9’ is not actually a number. It is the Katakana letter ‘ta,’ which Jiraiya tends to write as ‘9’, a writing quirk of his.

Shiho, a member of the Konoha Cryptology Team, states that Master Jiraiya must have figured out that Naruto would recognize this idiosyncrasy of his and thus wrote this code specifically for him. They figure out that the other numbers in the code refer to a novel by Master Jiraiya, Make Out Tactics.

Kakashi Hatake is forced to read out lines from the novel out loud in order to decipher the code. They successfully decipher the code - ‘The real one is not among them.’

After reading the decrypted code, Lord Fukasaku remembers the time when Jiraiya told him that none of the Six Paths of Pain resembled Nagato in the least. Lord Fukasaku tells Naruto that he is not strong enough to fight Pain and expresses his desire to train him in Toad Sage Jutsu.

He then asks Lady Tsunade to grant him permission to take Naruto back with him to Mount Myoboku to start his training in Senjustu. Naruto decides to go with him to fulfill his desire to avenge his master’s death. Naruto and Lord Fukasaku leave for Mount Myoboku, and Naruto is reverse summoned by Gamakichi.

After they leave, Lady Tsunade remembers the prediction The Great Toad Sage made about Jiraiya’s writing and how those novels played a major role in deciphering the code. She decides to believe that Naruto is the Child of Prophecy as the Great Sage Toad prophesied.

Upon his arrival, Naruto is treated to Lady Shima’s meal. Lord Fukasaku starts his training by explaining the basics of Toad Senjutsu and the role of Nature Energy in it. Gamakichi simplifies things for Naruto, who gets confused by Fukasaku’s explanations.

Lord Fukasaku showcases his strength and tells Naruto that if he wants to acquire this, he needs to become one with nature, which Naruto finds hard to understand. The episode ends with Gamakichi simplifying this for Naruto by stating that he will have to die.
