The Los Santos River is a virtual representation of the Los Angeles River and is a major water feature in the game world of Grand Theft Auto V. It starts as a natural water feature in the Tataviam Mountains and is dammed at the Land Act Dam to form the Land Act Reservoir.
The river then flows through the city of Los Santos and merges with another unnamed river at La Mesa before flowing into the Pacific Ocean.
The river has a concrete canal structure and is longer and more detailed than its real-life counterpart. It can be driven through by vehicles up until a certain point. There is also a secondary river that originates in Murrieta Heights and joins the main river at La Mesa, as well as a smaller storm drain canal, the Los Santos Storm Drain, which flows from the Port into the Pacific Ocean.
The Los Santos River appears in the following missions.
The Jewel Store Job - After robbing the Vangelico Jewelry Store Michael and his crew escape the police using the canals.
Fame or Shame - Michael and Trevor chase after Lazlow Jones through the canal.
Hood Safari - Franklin, Trevor and Lamar escape before the police can catch up with them by stealing the seasharks used by MC Clip for the shoot of his music video at the Storm Drain.
A street race involving Benefactor Suranos, Bravado Gauntlets, and Dewbauchee Rapid GTs takes place at night starting at the intersection of the Murrieta Heights source and East Vinewood source of the storm drain and ends at the start of the East Vinewood source.
At the end of East Vinewood source, some gang members with the same cars can be found, but they don't move.
