Solomon Richards in GTA 5

Solomon Richards is a Vinewood film producer and has been the owner of Richards Majestic Productions since 1978 after inheriting the company from his father, David Richards. He began working in the film industry as an associate producer on his father’s films and eventually gained fame by the late 70s for producing his films.

Solomon was accused of the murder of Leonora Johnson who was killed by Peter Dreyfuss. Solomon was however not arrested due to lack of evidence.

During the events of GTA V, Solomon’s studio is going through a financial crisis due to his recent productions not doing very well. He decides that he wants to recover his studio’s reputation and do one final movie called Meltdown after which he can retire peacefully.

Solomon gets introduced to Michael by their mutual contact Devin Weston as Michael is a fan of Solomon’s work. Solomon agrees to let Michael help him with the production of Meltdown after he gets the director and actor, Anton Beaudelaire and Milton McIlroy respectively, to come back to work on the film. Later when Rocco Pelosi and Gianni break into the studio to assault Solomon forcing him to pay them, Michael drives them away and ends up killing both of them.

When Solomon Richards is done with the film, Devin Weston creates a problem for him by asking him for the movie reel to wrongfully claim the insurance money by shutting down the studio as he is an investor in the production company. Weston hands over the copy of the film to Molly Schultz, his lawyer, and assistant, who leaves with it. Michael follows her to the airport where she gets killed by getting sucked into an airplane engine.

Later Devin Weston arrives at the premiere of Meltdown to inform Michael that he has sent the Merryweather men to kill his family in revenge for Molly’s death. Michael rushes home and saves his family. Meltdown goes on to become Solomon Richards’ biggest box office hit.

Throughout the game, Solomon Richards is seen dressed in a suit with his top shirt button open and a loose tie, except for the premiere of Meltdown where he is perfectly dressed. He has white hair and a receding hairline.

• Richards appears to be based on Gene Hackman's character Harry Zimm from the 1995 movie Get Shorty; both have a dusty office filled with movie memorabilia, produce mostly science-fiction and horror B-movies, and become involved with criminals.

• Michael De Santa can call Solomon after the completion of several missions. Solomon starts every phone call with a quote from a movie of his, which then Michael will name the movie, and ask how Michael is doing or tell him how the production of a movie is doing.

• Sometimes when switching to Michael, he might be a block away from his house arguing with a restaurant bouncer and saying: "I don't know him, I work with him!" or coming out saying: "Great lunch amigo!". This is a possible reference to Solomon.

• If called after Meltdown, Solomon will use a phrase from the movie Meltdown, Michael also mentions that working for Solomon was the best thing that ever happened in his life.
