Anato in Naruto

The details of Anato's past are rather mysterious. Very little is known about his upbringing or his skills. In the anime, he only made a few brief appearances. He is just a part of the Boruto anime and does not appear or receive any mentions in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga, making him a non-canon character in the series.

He made his anime debut in the Kara Actuation Arc of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in episode 158, "The Man Who Disappeared." In the Arc, Anato was introduced as a researcher who worked in the Medical Care Manufacturing Company located in the Land of Valleys. At the time, Victor was the president of the Medical Care Manufacturing Company and was also secretly part of the secret criminal organization, Kara.

Anato was a member of a research team researching the cells of Hashirama Senju, also referred to as the God of Shinobi and the First Hokage of Konohagakure (Village Hidden in the Leaves). Anato's body was changed at the cellular level and he turned into a ferocious beast after being infected by Hashirama Senju's cells. After being infected, Anato proceeded to slaughter the crew of his research team. Later, Team 7 of Konohagakure, led by Konohamaru Sarutobi and consisting of Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, and Mitsuki, found him. At the request of Anato's wife, Mia, Team 7 was assigned to this assignment. After successfully locating him, Team 7 tried to restrain him but failed in this task. Later. Victor's team arrived at the scene and incapacitated Anato. His body was properly examined once Victor's crew brought him back to the medical center. Victor gave the order to have Anato killed when it became clear that his mutation was useless for achieving his objectives.

Anato's appearance was quite limited, hence not much is known about him or his character. In his brief appearance, he appeared as a ferocious beast incapable of thinking for himself and attacking whatever came into his sight. Before he turned into a beast, it is stated that Anato was a passionate man who cared deeply about his loved ones. Additionally, he loved his work and gave his all in his endeavors.

Anato was a man of average build with short, perfectly groomed green hair and eyes that were dark in tone. Before being infected, Anato dressed in a high-necked grayish shirt with a right breast pocket, paired with matching pants and standard sandals. He also wore his wedding ring as a necklace. After being infected and gaining a mutated body, his outfit remained the same but it was torn in places. He wore his shirt open with its sleeves torn apart. His pants remained almost the same but were rough around the edges and he lost his sandals and remained barefoot.

It is difficult to tell from Anato's little appearance the full extent of his battle capabilities. Based on the information available, Anato was a true intellectual and a master of his craft, which made him a renowned researcher in his field. As a researcher, there is no record of him ever possessing any combat capabilities.

After he was infected by Hashirama’s cells, he turned into an uncontrollable beast and gained deadly prowess. He was able to successfully fend off Team 7, one of the most capable shinobi squads of Konoha. Additionally, he was able to break free from Multiple String Light Formation, a powerful barrier ninjutsu, with relative ease. Along with his newfound overwhelming power, he also gained the ability to stretch his arms which he could use offensively.
