After the Fourth Shinobi War, the shinobi world became peaceful and because of that, many shinobi lost their jobs. Ashimaru was one of those shinobi who lost his shinobi job and then turned into a mercenary to earn money and sustain life. He joined Hidari and together, they started to do missions for money. Lori, the Green Banks village citizen and one of the closest friends of Tofu (the village head), hired Ashimaru and Hidari to assault the village and steal the deed of the village. At first, they both provide Lori with a poison which he pours into Tofu’s drink, killing Tofu. When Tofu's daughter Kiri took over the village head position, Lori told Ashimaru and Hidari to assault the village and when they did, Kiri requested Konoha village to send them some shinobi to protect the village, but in her request, she did not tell the truth about the situation.
When Team 7 arrived in the village, Ashimaru killed one citizen of the village and was about to kill Boruto Uzumaki but Konohamaru Sarutobi came to Boruto's rescue and defended him. Hidari threw a flash bomb and told Ashimaru to retreat as he didn’t want to be on Konoha’s radar, as he knew about many powerful shinobi in Konoha. Later, Hidari used his genjutsu on the villagers to divert the Konoha genins and kidnapped Kiri so that they could take the village deed in exchange.
When Lori brought Kiri to Hidari, Ashimaru stabbed Lori with a sword from behind but soon, Konohamaru came to the rescue of Kiri and told Hidari that he was ready to exchange Kiri’s life for the village deed. When Hidari got the deed, he and Ashimaru together tried to kill Konohamaru but Konohamaru, with the help of his fellow team 7 members Mitsuki, Sarada Uchiha, and Boruto, was able to save Kiri.
When Hidari trapped Konohamaru in his Earth Release: Shadow Clone, he told Ashimaru to kill Kiri and the Konoha genins. Mitsuki set up a few traps to stop Ashimaru, but it did not stop him. Mitsuki and Boruto tried to attack Ashimaru but he was easily countered, all while Sarada was analyzing the movement of Ashimaru. Sarada used his Sharingan to dodge his attack and then used his full power in a punch to kill him.
Ashimaru was short-tempered and did not think much before attacking someone. He loved to kill anyone, always thought highly of himself, and was overconfident in his skills. He was seen taking orders from Hidari and followed his instructions.
Ashimaru had a red triangle mark on his forehead and short black hair. He wore a sleeveless navy blue t-shirt and navy blue trousers with shinobi sandals. He carried two swords in a brown carry bag that strapped around his chest and back. He has his mouth covered with a mask. Both arms have a bandage from the wrist to the bicep area.
Ashimaru was a skilled Kenjutsu user as he always carried two swords. He was also very strongly built and was unfazed by the explosive tags that Mitsuki used as a trap. He always counters every attack with an attack and does not believe in defending himself.
A. Ashimaru was the partner of Hidari.
A. Ashimaru appeared for the first time in episode 40 of Boruto: The Next Generation.
