Tobei Kagetsu in Naruto

Tobei Kagetsu used to live with his family and even though they were poor still they had a great relationship with each other. He always tried to keep family together but when the herbs in their village became very useful to the shinobi world, they became rich and soon started to live separately.

When Tobei saw his children become greedy, he decided to fake his death and write a will in which it was mentioned that all his property would go to Futa, his eldest son. But there was a condition that he would attend his funeral as chief mourner and if he laughed even a bit in the funeral, all the property and estates will be divided in all Kagetsu family but he can put someone else in his position as the chief mourner.

Mai Kagetsu, Tobei’s youngest daughter, helped him in his plan and disguised himself as an old lady. When Futa Kagetsu requested Konoha to send someone to be the chief mourner, they sent Shino Aburame and Naruto Uzumaki. When Naruto and Shino were on the way to Motoyoshi village, they asked about the way to the village and Tobei, who was disguised as an old lady, told them its right there and then warned them.

When Shino and Naruto reached the Futa's house, they got to know about the mission and soon went to eat lunch when Mai invited them for lunch. It was then Shino told Futa to let him taste it because there might be posion and when he ate the food he started to laugh because either Mai or Toboei mixed laughing drug in the food which made Naruto take the role of the chief mourner in the funeral.

The next day Shino spotted Mai going into the jungle and he started to flow her there he saw Mai and an old woman (Tobei) talking about the drug which made Shino understand that it was Mai and the old woman doing (Tobei).

Tobei then told Shino that he wanted to drug everyone so his family can laugh even though it will be a forceful laugh. However, then Shino told him that the real laugh is from the heart which made Tobei understand that his plan is not right. He then revealed himself in the fake funeral and made everyone realize that only money is not everything as family, love and laughter are also important.

Tobei Kagetsu is a cheerful and loved man. He is down to earth and always keeps love and family above anything else.

Tobei is an old man and has hair on the sides only. He has grey thick eyebrows and grey big eyes. He wore a beanie when disguised as the old man and walk with a stick. He wears a brown Kamino coat and carries a backpack.
