Lamar Down is a storyline mission in GTA V. This mission includes all three protagonists. Franklin Clinton gets news from his ex-girlfriend Tanisha that his friend Lamar is in trouble. Franklin then sets out to rescue Lamar with the help of his new friends, Michael and Trevor.
In this mission, Franklin's friend Lamar Davis is kidnapped by the Ballas gang and held captive at the Paleto Forest Sawmill. Despite feeling reluctant due to Lamar's repeated mistakes and troublemaking, Franklin agrees to rescue him after being convinced by Tanisha. Franklin contacts Michael and Trevor, and they all work together to kill the Ballas and rescue Lamar.
During the drive back home, Lamar and Franklin get into a small argument about their past and Lamar accuses Franklin of abandoning him. Franklin reminds Lamar of all the times he has helped him and advises him to leave his gang lifestyle behind and get a real job.
Franklin leaves in frustration and is soon approached by Steve Haines and Dave Norton, who order him to kill Trevor. Franklin refuses and suggests Michael instead, but Dave reveals that Trevor doesn't trust Michael. Lamar asks about the conversation, but Franklin tells him not to worry and to leave it to him.
Despite successfully rescuing Lamar, tensions rise between him and Franklin as Lamar feels neglected and unappreciated. The mission sets up future conflicts between the characters and introduces the complicated relationships between them.

There are no rewards for this mission.
After this mission Franklin receives a text from Jimmy telling him about his father’s movie premiere, which unlocks the mission Meltdown for Michael De Santa.
When Franklin is watching over the sawmill with the binoculars, Lamar will be wearing his normal green shirt. But when the player finds Lamar, he will be wearing a black t-shirt.
It is possible to do this mission without hearing the phone call Michael receives from Dave after "The Wrap Up" and miss the first discussion regarding killing Trevor.
Regardless of what vehicle Franklin drives to the sawmill, his Buffalo S may appear alongside other protagonists' personal vehicles.
A brief part of this mission, showing Franklin assaulting from the first position with an AP Pistol, is seen in the gameplay trailer.
A. To start this mission, the player has to visit Franklin’s safehouse marked on the minimap as F while playing as Franklin Clinton, after completing the missions “The Wrap Up” and “Reuniting The Family”.
